Turkey (Istanbul) Sept/Oct 2008 D-9

This morning, we took a ferry (1.4TRY=Rm4) and crossed over the Asian side of the Bosphorus Straits. From the ferry, we could see from the coastline the three major sites of Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia & Tokapi Palace in a row. The ferry passed a lighthouse, the Haydarpasa train station and made a few ferry stops along the way. We alighted at a dock next to the Haydarpasa station and wandered around the town and had our lunch there.

We visited the Haysarpasa train station, an old building with unique architecture, both external and interior. In the residential area, we saw an old Ottoman buildings and many modern 4- 5 storey apartment homes.

We took a ferry back to the dock near the Galata bridge. We visited the Eminomu Yenicamii mosque (built in 1597) and an Egyptian bazaar market next to it. The mosque has an elegant internal design with colorful glass panels and beautiful domes on top.

"We had a full day roaming around Istanbul !!! For a traveler with strong mental and physical health, you will probably have these 4 qualities in you ie Can Eat ! Can Walk ! Can Sleep ! Can Shit!"
