Egypt (Luxor & Karnak Temple) Sept/Oct 2008 D-26

Luxor was the next target of our visit. From Aswan, we boarded a train and paid 31EP=Rm21 for a 2nd class aircon seat to Luxor. On arrival, we checked into Princess hostel (EP15=Rm10) for two nights.

In Luxor, I focused my visits on the Luxor Temple (40EP=Rm27), Karnak Temple (50EP=Rm34) & The Valley of the Kings (70EP=Rm48). The Luxor Temple was within walking distance from our hostel and near the Luxor train station. The Temple dedicated to God Amon, is famous for its pylons built by Ramses 11

Together with my travel mate, we had to take a taxi (15EP=Rm10) to Karnak Temple located about 3km from Luxor Temple. The temple complex is huge, consists of three temples built in dedication to god Amon, Khunsu & goddess Mut. As we entered the Karnak Temple, two rows of ram (male sheep) statues greeted us. Underneath the ram's heads, small statutes of Ramses 11 were carved. The tall pylons, colossal statutes, shrines and obelisks in these temples provided us with good photo shots.

After the Karnak Temple visit , we took a taxi (10EP=Rm7) to Luxor town center.

Today is my American travel buddy's birthday and I celebrated with him by ordering two medium and large Egyptian pizzas and a fruit drink for our dinner tonight.
