Day 3 Saturday Night Fever Oct 18 2025 (Baku, Azerbaijan) - spent our day & evening (a Saturday Night Fever outing) roaming & seeing the best of the Baku City & Old City, free & easy at our own leisure ! Baku Boulevard & Waterfront area shines & in limelight when nightfall attracting "Night owls", " Mid-night cowboys" & a Baku admirer & stray walker like me !
1) My solo early morning walk in Old City of Baku & Boulevard (exploratory visit), each of these places have its own history, architecture, charm, character & overall atmosphere; no doubt these factors make the place memorable & appealing to local residents, visitors & tourists alike.
Baku, the capital & commercial hub of Azerbaijan is a low lying city with coastline along the Caspian Sea, it's famed for its medieval walled old city which contains the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a vast royal complex & the iconic stone Maiden Tower, famous landmark include the Zaha Hadid-designed Heydar Aliyev Center & the Flame Towers, the 3 pointed skyscrapers covered with LED screens.
2) Muhammad Mosque, Baku Old City, Azerbaijan - also known as Siniggala Mosque, built in the 11th century, it is the first building in Azerbaijan which is related in Islam & date for its architecture ligature.
3) Juma Mosque, Old City of Baku, Azerbaijan - a historic Shia mosque, built in 1899, though the site has a much older history possibly dating back to 14th century temple, the mosque features intricate architectural details, a minaret built in 1437 & separate prayer rooms for men & women.
4) Four Season Hotel, Baku, Azerbaijan - a 5 star premier hotel located next to the Philarmonia Garden & facing the Baku Boulevard & Azneft Square; old fashioned & antique taxi / cab at your majesty service parked in front of the hotel !
5) Azneft Square, Baku, Azerbaijan - this downtown square is named after "Azneft" trust, it is one of the tourist hubs of Baku with many interesting tourist attractions near the Baku Boulevard .
6) Philarmonia Garden, Baku, Azerbaijan - also known as Governor's Park located next to the Baku Fortress, the park was established in 1830.
7) Pedestrian Underpass (underneath Azneft Square), Baku, Azerbaijan - serves as a pathway connecting the Old City of Baku with the Baku Boulevard & the Caspian Sea promenade, instead of crossing the heavy traffic main roads. you have the option to use the visitor friendly elevators in the Underpass to walk to the opposite promenade with ease !
8) Baku Boulevard, Azerbaijan - a promenade established in 1909 which runs parallel to Baku's seafront, its history goes back more than 100 years, to a time when Baku oil barons built their mansions along the Caspian shore & when the seafront was artificially built up inch by inch ! A popular tourist attraction & very ideal for a stroll along the seafront at any time of the day but more scenic when most buildings & skyscrapers are lighted up at night !
9) Maiden Tower (UNESCO), Baku, Azerbaijan - a 12th century historical monument & a symbol of Baku, Azerbaijan located in the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site & features a museum with artifacts, a spiral staircase & a museum displaying pottery & other historical items, the tower is a popular tourist attraction known for its mysterious past which includes various local legends & for its views of the city & the Caspian Sea.

11) Group visit to Baku Boulevard, Azerbaijan (my 2nd visit of the day) & the surrounding.
12) Crescent Park & Mall as viewed from the Baku Boulevard, Azerbaijan
13) Park Bulvar Mall, Baku, Azerbaijan - a multi-story shopping mall on Baku Boulevard in downtown Baku in the city center, situated near the Government House of Baku, the mall spans four floors & includes two additional subterranean levels.
15) The Flame Towers, Baku, Azerbaijan - the three flame-shaped towers are intended to symbolise the elements of fire & are a reference to Azerbaijan's nickname "The Land of Fire", the tower height is 182m.
16) Mini Venice, Baku, Azerbaijan - the Little Venice canal & gondola boat rides.
17) Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Baku, Azerbaijan - a museum located in Baku that displays Azerbaijan carpets & rugs with historical & modern weaving techniques & materials, it has the largest collection of Azerbaijan carpets in the world ! A very unique design building in the shape of a carpet as seen from far !
18) Continuing our group's visit from Baku Boulevard to Highland Park - patience & perseverance to do the uphill walk, slow & steady wins the race ! Funicular tram ride is another option if you find it too strenuous to walk up the stairs !
19) Highland Park, Baku, Azerbaijan - elevated terrace reached by funicular ride or stairs, offering stunning & spectacular views of the Baku city & sea. The Martyr's Lane & Memorial are located on the upper Highland Park within walking distance !
20) Martyr's Lane, Baku, Azerbaijan - memorial & cemetery for those killed by the Soviet Army in Black January & the Nagamo-Karabakh War, located 100m from the upper floor of the Highland Park.
21) Walkabout along the main road of Baku Boulevard towards our guest house in Old Baku City
22) Maiden Tower (UNESCO), Old City of Baku, Azerbaijan located approx 200m from our Guest House.
23) Bus ride (merry go round in the late afternoon) nearby the Four Season Hotel / Azneft Square to downtown Baku (approx. 1.5 hour) - a glimpse of Baku town by public transport, cost effective & a number of stopovers in downtown & suburban Baku !
24) Baku Boulevard by Night - spectacular sight !
25) Mini Venice by Night, Baku, Azerbaijan - nice ambience & atmosphere !
26) The Flame Towers by Night, Baku, Azerbaijan - the 3 "musketeers" of Baku, Azerbaijan greeting at you ! A starry starry night !
27) Park Bulvar Mall by Night - cool sea breeze & a pleasant evening walk along the mall !
28) Baku Boulevard Waterfront by Night - beautiful coastline !
29) Maiden Tower & Old City of Baku by Night - elegant looking & outstanding !
29) Our group's home cooked dinner prepared by my travel buddy, Kan Ying - yummy yummy taste !
