Day 17, Saturday Nov 1 2025 (Gyumri & Yerevan, Georgia) - devoted our entire morning visiting major touristy places in Gyumri ie Verdanants Square, Saint Yot Verk & Saint Amenaprkich Monastery, The Iron Fountain, Mother Armenian Monument & Black Fortress. After Gyumri, our next destination is Yerevan, capital of Armenia. After the hotel check-in, our group visited (by walking) to Republic Square, Liberty Square & Northern Avenue. Another well earned & productive day for our group !
1) St Yot Verk Monastery, Gyumri, Georgia - formerly known as the Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God, a prominent 19th century Armenian Apostolic church located on Vardanants Square, the city's main square.
2) Saint Amenaprkich Monastery, Gyumri, Georgia - also known as the Holy Saviour's Church, a prominent architectural landmark & not a monastery in the traditional sense but a cathedral that was rebuilt (originally built in 1873) after the devastating 1988 earthquake.
3) An old church near Vernadants Square, Gyumri, Georgia
4) Vardanants Square, Gyumri, Georgia - a large central town square in Gyumri, bordered by Abovyan street from the west & Gai street from the north, Shahumyan street from the east & Vahan Cheraz street from the south, it has a rectangular shape.
5) The Mother Armenian monument statute Gyumri, Armenia - a female personification of Armenia located in the city of Gyumri, erected in 1976 on a hill west of Gyumri city.
6) Black Fortress, Armenia - an abandoned Russian imperial fortress in Gyumri, Shirak Province, Armenia, lies 8km from the Turkish border, built in response to the Russo-Turkish War of 1828 > 1829, now a natural cultural heritage monument in Armenia.
7) After the Mother Armenian Monument & Black Fortress visits, we drove to The Iron Fountain for a brief visit.
8) The Iron Fountain, Gyumri, Armenia - a unique charm, an abandoned Soviet designed modernism & futuristic structure resembling a "UFO" created by Artur Tarkhanyan, opened in 1982 & survived the 1988 earthquake, this rusty iron fountain continues to attract visitors from around the world, why ? Just show up when in Gyumri !
9) Suburban & countryside scenery of Gyumri as our car heading towards the capital of Armenia, Yerevan for our 3 nights stay.

14) Republic Square, Yerevan - the central town square in Yerevan, consists of two section, an oval roundabout & a trapezoid-shaped section which contains a pool with musical fountains.
15) Walkabout from our hotel apartment to Liberty Square, Yerevan, Armenia
16) Northern Avenue, Yerevan, Armenia - a modern 450m long pedestrian street that connects Republic Square, lined with luxury residential builiding, designer shops, cafes & offices, a well known landmark in Yerevan, Armenia.
17) A glimpse of downtown Yerevan by night after the Northern Avenue visit !
18) KM's owned made fruit dessert as appetiser, marinated with roasted sesame sauce & ate after a dinner !
