Day 9 Friday Oct 24 2025 (Stepantsminda, Georgia) - our group's 2 nights stay in Stepantsminda, a settlement & a scenic highland resort townlet in the north of Georgia at the foot of Mount Kazbek at 1740m above the sea level, located 160km north from Tbilisi & only 11km from the Russian border, it is settled on the Georgian Military Highway that connects Russia & Georgia, wet & cold weather greeted our stay in this scenic highland resort town near Russian border & in between time, we visited Gergeti Church & downtown Stephantsminda, a great outcome indeed !

1) Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), Georgia & Mount Kazbek - a townlet in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia, historically & ethnographically, the town is part of the Khevi province, it is the centre of the Kazbegi Municipality.

2) Guest House Tamta, Stepantsminda, room tariff Rm103 (US$24, twin sharing), we enjoyed our stay in this cosy guest house.

3) Hiking trail to Gergeti Fortress & Gergeti Trinity Church, Stephantsminda, Georgia - as it was drizzling at the time of our visit, the hillslope was steep & slippery, we aborted taking this hiking trail, instead we drove our car uphill via an alternative paved road near Gergeti Village !

4) Downtown Stepantsminda, Georgia - walkabout to get a feel of this resort town amid a wet & cold weather !

5) St Gabriel the Archangel Church, Stepantsminda, Georgia - a small, old & charming Orthodox church, exploratory visit !

6) A panoramic view of Stepantsminda townlet from our Tamta Guest House.

7) Gergeti Trinity Church, Stepantsminda, Georgia - a 14th century, two storey church sitting on a mountain top that overlooks Stepantsminda & the village of Gergeti. A must visit when in Stepantsminda.

8) Our group bought chicken thighs & potatoes from a local mini market & cooked them with curry paste & ate together with steamed rice; a big thank you to our travel buddy, Kam Ying for using her culinary skill in preparing this spicy chicken curry dish as our dinner tonight ! Yummy yummy taste !
