Day 13, Oct 28 2025 (Mestia & Zugdidi, Georgia) - due to wet & gloomy weather for the last two days in Mestia, our group decided to cut short our stay in Mestia & spent a night in Zugdidi instead ! Due to a truck accident midway between Mestia & Zugdidi, there was an almost an hour of waiting before the truck was towed & cleared & we resumed our journey to Zugdidi - what a relief ! After the hotel check-in in Zugdidi, our group made a visit to Dadiani Palace Complex & the Farmer Market.
Travel itinerary: Mestia > Zugdidi, Georgia (approx 139km)
1) The Start of our early morning drive from Mestia > Zugdidi, Georgia (approx. 139km) - for this leg of travel, just admire the breath-taking mountain forest scenery, autumn forests full of yellow leaves on trees, misty cold weather & sea of clouds partially covering the snowy mountain top, driving through tunnel after tunnel, village towns, cows grazing on grasslands, rivers & streams, waterfall, valleys & gorges etc, never a dull moment seeing the best of the Georgian countryside from a moving rental car, mountainous roads were wet & slippery, negotiating a sharp corner was a major challenge ..... needless to say driving & navigating safely on this stretch of winding mountainous roads were always utmost in our mind - a big thank you to my travel buddy, KF Wong (an excellent & skilful driver) who was on wheels throughout the 16 days of driving passing the Georgian & Armenian mountainous roads, city to city, town to town ! Well done !
