Buses run regularly from the outside of Rimini train station to San Marino. This tiny European nation is a Catholic state & has a population of 35,000, mainly Italians. San Marino Historic Centre was gazette as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.
I enjoyed visiting the smaller nations in Europe - free & easy and less stress walking around the historic centers. The 6 small states in Europe are Andorra, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino & Vatican City. May be I should pay a visit to Malta if I ever go to Europe in the near future !
