Europe (Dublin, Ireland) May 2014

Total expenses incurred (2 days): E$20.20 + Pound 6.00
Hostel (1 night) : Abraham House - E$18.00 (dorm)
Food & groceries: E$2.20
Eurolines Bus : London > Dublin > London - Free using Eurolines 30 Day Pass.
Eurolines booking fee: Pound 6.00

I took an overnight Eurolines bus from London to Dublin via a ferry crossing from Hollyhead, Wales to Dublin. The ferry crossing took around 3 hrs so you could take a rest or refresh yourself at any of the lounge area in the ship. Upon arrival in the early morning at the Dublin bus terminal, I took a connecting bus to Belfast.

Dublin is the last of the European city I visited for this trip and Dublin becomes the No 70th overseas country I visited thus far in my entire life. Prior to retirement in May 2006, I had through working and holidays visited a total of 10 countries.

Dublin is the capital of Ireland and has a population of around 520,000. In the old days, it was a Viking settlement. The Dublin Castle is the oldest landmark here. There are plenty to see, eat and drink in Dublin. So just wander around the both side of the O'Connel bridge and there are plenty of interesting places to visit ie Irish pubs, The Temple Bar, Custom House, Merchants Arch, St Steven Green's Shopping Mall, monuments, old churches, Trinity College etc. No doubt, the Dublin tourist city map will guide you to many interesting places within or nearby the city centre.
