Hostel: Good Night - E$8.50 (dorm)
Food & groceries: E$1.50
Mini Bus: Podgorica > Ulcinj - E$6 + Ulcinj > Shkodra - E$5 + Shkodra > Tirana - E$4 = E$15.00
I took a bus (E$20) from Dubrovnik bus station to Podgorica (190km) and the journey took slightly over 3 hrs. The bus route passed a small stretch of the Bosnian / Herzegovina border, the bay of Kotor, the coastal towns of Kotor & Budva (short stopovers to drop off & pick up passengers). The deep blue Adriatic sea could be seen from the bus route so what a happy ride for me to see and admire the Croatian scenic coastline & the Montenegro mountainous countryside.
Podgorica is the capital city (160,000 people) of Montenegro, an ex-Yugoslavia state in Balkan. The city was formerly known as Titograd. Podgorica was badly destroyed during the World War Two. Montenegro achieved her independence in May 2006 and the official currency is Euro. The city is small so you could visit the various touristy places in a day or two. Most tourists opted to stay in the coastal towns of Kotor & Budva.
