D5 Thursday April 16 2016 (Qingdao & Weihai, Shandong) - after staying for 4 nights in Qingdao, it was time to move on & our next city of destination is Weihai (arriving by high spped train), another coastal city on the North-East edge of Shandong, overlooking Korea ! I arrived in Weihai on Thursday hence I am "thirsty" & eager to use my six sense to know more about Weihai (my first visit) during the next 2 days !

| Qingdao > Weihai, Shandong (254km) |
Weihai, formerly Weihaiwei is a prefecture-level city & major seaport city in the northernmost Shandong province of China, it borders Yantai to the west & the Yellow Sea to the East & is the closest mainland Chinese city to South Korea.

1) Qingdao Railway Station, Shandong - high speed train ride from Qingdao railway station (departing 09.02 > Weihaibei Railway station (arriving 11.02, approx. 264km, CNY110 = Rm66 = US$16.50)

3) Arriving in Weihaibei Railway Station

4) Upon our arrival, we bought our long distance bus tickets (Qingdao > Yantai) from a Coach Station ticketing counter located inside the Weihaibei Railway Station
5) Took a Didi from the Weihaibei Railway station to our homestay hotel in International Bathing Beach, Houju 8th Street, Huanhai Road, Weihai.
6) Hotel Accommodation (Weihai, Shandong): our 2 nights stay in Wutong Guesthouse, Huoju 8th Street, Weihai, room tariff Rm76 = US$19 twin sharing.
6) Walkabout the beach area nearby our hotel after the hotel check-in & explore the eating places.
7) Slow walk along the beach front area towards the Houju 8th Street, Weihai - interesting to see a row of fashioned & colourful Chinese made vehicles on Fashion Parade parked alomg the roadside !
h

8) Houju 8th Street, Weihai, Shandong - officially constructed in 1993 due to its natural topography of being nestled between mountains & the sea, offering stunning views of the sea overlooking South Korea (the nearest point), both sides lined with coffee shops, homestays, cultural & creative shops etc ! Best time to visit is early morning to watch sunrise ! At 76 years old, I realised that Time is not Old, The Sea Knows, also Time & Tide wait for No Man hence Make Hay while the Sun shines if you still have the initiatives to put forward a simple practical travel plan to enthuse or arouse the interests of your circle of like-minded travel buddies who have a common interest or having a strong passion in travelling ! Overall, I am very pleased to show up here with my wife & two of my travel buddies in Weihai, a north-eastern most city of Shandong ! Travelling thus widen your horizon in LIFE, broadening perspectives & boosting personal growth through exposure to new cultures & environment especially in a new city or country !
10) My 2nd visit to Houju 8th street, Weihai to meet up with my travel buddies taking time to loiter & admire the area at their own leisure !
11) Evening visit with my travel buddy, Thompson in Linhai Park nearby our hotel & a 15 minutes walk to a supermarket chain across a main road to buy some fruit (strawberries) & groceries (bread & pastries).
12) After the supermarket visit & a short rest in my homestay hotel, I ventured out solo at night to the Houju 8th street to get the feel of the glittering night life in this touristy area. But it was a quiet affair, probably due to the low season & the cold sea breeze weather (12c) ! What a Thursday Night Fever feeling for me especially when the night is young !
