D2 Monday April 13 2026 (Qingdao, Shandong) - my 2nd day in Qingdao, took a Didi from our hotel to Zhangqiao Pier (my last visits were in Aug & Dec 2015) followed by a walk to Shanjieli Zhongshan Road, St Michael's Cathedral & Zhongshan Park to view cherry blossoms. In the afternoon, we visited the Xiaoyushan Park, Qingdao No 2 Bathing Beach & Badaguan Scenic Area. A great outcome for our Day 2 visit in Qingdao !
1) My morning walk to Gaoxion Road Metro station (exploratory visit) prior to my meet up with group for breakfast.
2) Group's breakfast in a small eat shop in a local community residential area nearby our hotel - savoured a bowl of wantan soup (CNY16) + soya bean bowl (CNY3) + small millet porridge (CNY3) = CNY21 = Rm12.60
3) Didi ride from our hotel to Zhangqiao Pier, Qingdao, Shandong - drop off at Shangjieli followed by a short walk to Zhangqiao Pier.
4) Zhanqiao Pier, Qingdao, Shandong - a popular landmark, located at the southern shore of Qingdao, off Zhongshan Road, this 440 meter long pier was constructed in 1891 was Qingdao's first wharf & also the earliest military dock, the octagonal Huilan Pavilion was constructed at the end of the pier in 1930 & features as the logo of Tsingdao Brewery; extending into the sea, Zhangqiao is surrounded by azure skies, golden beaches & soaring seagulls, offering diverse coastal scenery for film makers, notable films shot here include :Good Morning, Winter Sea", "The Floating Landscape" & "Successor".

6) Exiting Zhangqiao followed by a short walk towards Shangjieli & Zhongshan Road, Qingdao, Shandong.
7) Shangjieli is located in the heart of Qingdao's old town near Zhingshan Road, revitalized historical, cultural, & commercial district known for its unique blend of German colonial & traditional Chinese architecture, it is a premier city walk destination with trendy cafes, specialty shops & art studios.

9) "Strolling Through Spring" in Shangjieli historic & cultural block, Qingdao, Shandong.
10) Exhibits of Historic Photos of Hundred Year Zhongshan Road & old buildings & sites, Qingdao, Shandong - the Past & the Present, Zhongshan Road is now a major tourist attraction (shopping, eating, wine & dine) in Qingdao !
11) Villa Anna, Qingdao, Shandong - a historic building of Qingdao, built in 1901 by a German businessman Robert Kappler & his son in honor of a family member, this well preserved Baroque-style compound now contain a bookstore & German restaurant also serves as a marriage registration office, its picturesque setting, statues & vintage decor habe made it a popular site for wedding photography & a wide range of ceremonies.
12) St Michael Cathedral, Qingdao, Shandong - opened in 1934, also called the Zhejiang Road Catholic Church is the seat of the bishop of the Diocese of Qingdao, located in the oldest part of Qingdao on the east side of Zhingshan Road in Shinan District, free admission for seniors above 70s.

14) Qingdao Zhongshan Park, Qingdao, Shandong - a family friendly outdoor recreation area located near Huiquan Bay, it features cherry blossom trees, temples & a cafe car ride that offers stunning views of the surroundings, blending seamlessly into the Zhan Shan Temple area, visitors can explore the botanical garden, zoo & Sightseeing TV Tower within the park's grounds, Spring is the best time to visit the Pasrk when all the flowers are in full blooms,
) Little Fish Hill Park (Xiaoyushan Park), Qingdao, Shandong
Standing facing the sea, the Little Fish Hill Park (Xiaoyushan Park) adds charm to the beautiful Huiquan Bay. Characterized by sea scenery, the unique park is a classical garden-style construction combining the natural beauty, architectural techniques and artistic skills. Located at the junction of Yushan Road and Fushan Road, the park is built on the top of the Little Fish Hill. Relying on the geological advantage, the park commands an excellent view of Qingdao City although the hill is only 60 meters (197 feet) high.
15) Qingdao No 2 Bathing Beach, Shandong - located within the historic Badagaun Scenic Area, a premier tranquil beach known for fine sand, clear water & gentle waves, famous for being a preferred spot for state leaders, it offers a quieter, mor romantic & scenic experience than other beaches, surrounded by European style villas.
16) Badaguan Scenic Area, Qingdao, Shandong - a historical mansion area located near the coastline in the city of Qingdao, Badaguan is made up of streets named after great military forts of the ancient times, it was originally a residential area for Germans built when Qingdao was a German protectorate.
17) Dinner in a small eat shop at a local community residential area, nearby our hotel - savoured a dish of stir-fried vegetable / prawns & tofu / minced pork + white rice = CNY52 (Rm31.20).
