D8 Monday April 20 2026 (Yantai, Shandong) - after a hotel buffet breakfast, we took a Didi (CNY50) to visit a national 5As tourist attraction in Yangmadao, approx 30km from Yantai city, both my wife & myself paid CNY130 = Rm78 = US$19.50 for a 2.5 hr car hire with a driver & visited 5 major touristy places in Yangmadao island.
1) Early solo morning walk (06.30 > 07.00) from my hotel to Yantai Railway station prior to breakfast.

2) Yantai Railway Station, Shandong - external visit only; come tomorrow morning, we will be taking a high speed train from Yantai Railway station to Penglai Railway station (92km) in order to visit Penglai Pavilion, well known as a Fairyland of the Earth !
3) Hotel buffet breakfast in Lijing Coast Hotel, Yantai - a delicious & filling meal.
4) Yangmadao (Yangma Island), Yantai, Shandong - took a Didi car (CNY50 = US$12.50) from our hotel in Yantai to Yangmadao, a national 5A tourist attraction located approx 30km from Yantai city centre, Yangmadao is currently linked by a bridge from mainland Yantai, so it is very convenient to travel by public transport to this scenic island. Most local tourists / visitors use hired electric scooters to roam the island.
Yangmadao, Yantai is the imperial horse ranch (raising of royal horses) designated by Emperor Qin Shi Huang during his Eastern Tour in Shandong, China, the island is 13.5 sq kilometres, boasts a stunning blend of mountains & sea + a thousand years of history, a paradise in the Jiadong Peninsula.
5) Tianma Square, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong - a 30 meter high Tianma (Heavenly Horse) sculpture stands grandly as the island's iconic landmark, at night the lights & fountains create a romantic atmosphere !
6) Yangmadao electric scooter rental centre - our Didi dropped us off at this point so that visitors could rent a electric scooter or a small car to various touristy places in Yangmadao.

8) Xunmatan Riding Club, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong - tourists or visitors have the opportunities to learn the techniques to drive a horse under a skilful guidance on a beach or club area (for a fee).
9) Private car hire (CNY130 = Rm78 = US$19.50) with a driver covering 4 major visits in Yangmadao (slightly over 2 hours). Whereas my travel buddy & his spouse opted for a electric scooter hire (CNY80 = Rm48) roaming the island for 3- 4 hours.
10) 1st stopover - Zhang Dao Scenic Spot, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong - our first stop & the most scenic one & visited one ! Crystal clear water, blue sky & ocean, windy sea breeze etc. Nearby there is a jetty offering island boat rides for tourists / visitors.
11) 2nd stopover - an Instagram spot, beautiful background setting & landscape, a small green patch of flat land & 3 small unique cottage houses (one built on raised platform) overlooking the blue ocean making the entire place very scenic for photo shooting !
12) 3rd stopover, Qin Charioteer, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong - magnificent & dynamic looking Qin Dynasty horse chariot going for a battle field statute.
13) 4th stopover - Qin Cliff, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong - 6 Qin horses galloping on a cliff over an ocean floor background in Yangmadaom Yantai.
14) 5th stopover - Lotus Sunset Viewpoint, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong.
15) A coastal park opposite the Electric Scooter Rental Centre, Yangmadao, Yantai, Shandong
16) Return journey by a private Didi car ride (CNY55 = Rm33) from the Yangmadao > Yantai City
