D10 Tuesday April 21 2026 (Nanshan & Longkou, Shandong) - part 1 of this post focussed on my group's visit to Nanshan Tourist Area (a national 5A tourist attraction in Shandong), located approx 20km from Longkou. After a hotel buffet breakfast, we took a Didi from our hotel to Nanshan & spent the entire afternoon there !
1) Morning walk to a local garden nearby our hotel, Longkou.
2) Cultural Square, Longkou, Shandong
3) Huangxiang Forest Garden, Longkou, Shandong
4) She Fu Yen Garden, Longkou, Shandong
5) A library, Longkou, Shandong
6) Hotel buffet breakfast in Vienna Hotel, Longkou - enjoyed the pork noodle soup, yogurt & fried chicken !
7) Nanshan Tourist Area, Longkou, Shandong - a national 5A tourist attraction, approx. 20km from Longkou city (took a Didi from our hotel to this touristy place), consists of 2 parts ie Religious, Historical & Cultural Park + the Chinese Historical Cultural Park, the natural & cultural landscape here complement each other, outlining a picturesque scene of "longevity like the southern mountains", free admission for seniors aged above 70s, sightseeing buggy ride (7.8km, 4 stops) costs CNY30 per pax (return).
8) Giant Buddha Statute, Nanshan - first buggy stop to catch a glimpse of the Giant Buddha, 38 meters tall weighing 380 tons, 360 steps to walk up so be prepared to sweat it out if you want to enjoy a panoramic view of Nanshan !
9) Huayan World, Nanshan Tourist Area - a Buddhist theme park consists of 5 Dhyani Buddha Halls with exquisite carvings & vibrant colours, also featuring the "Medicine Buddha Carol" music fountain & a prayer corridor with 108 prayer wheels.
10) Nanshan Great Buddha - the world largest bronze Buddha statute, my wife preferred to rest her feet at the base floor & I managed to walk up the 400 steps to test my mental & physical strength !

13) Sightseeing buggy ride from Huayan World Park > Spring & Autumn Garden, Nanshan Tourist Area, Longkou
14) Spring & Autumn Garden & Confucius Bronze Statute, Nanshan Historical, Culture Park - showcasing thousands of years of Chinese architectural, historical & cultural traditions, designed as a "living textbook" of Chinese civilisation, showcasing historical narratives & landscape design align to the era of Confucius, a big bronze Confucius statute stands tall in the Garden.
15) Confucius Scholar Museum, Nanshan - legacies of Confucius & his disciples.
16) Taoism Museum, Nanshan
17) The Tang Dynasty, Nanshan Tourist Area, Longkou - architectural design & landscape dating back to the Tang Dynasty.
18) Hall of Wellbeing & Prosperity - a short & brief visit !
19) Bodhi Cave, Nanshan Tourist Area, Longkou, Shandong - the 1,008 meter immersive cave is themed around the 81 trials from the classic journey to the West featuring large relief sculptures, it connects directly to major landmarks, including the Nanshan Giant Buddha, the Jade Buddha & the Fushou Palace.
