Day 7 Wednesday May 28 2025 (Medan, Sumatra) - my final day in Medan prior to taking an overnight bus from Medan > Dumai this evening. Spent our day doing a walkabout in downtown Medan & visited Museum Negri North Sumatra, Istana Maimun, Setia Budi Temple, Lotte Mart Central Point.
1) Walkabout in downtown Medan.
2) Museum Negri Sumatra Utara - a state owned museum located along H M Jhoni Street, Medan, excellent exhibits of cultural & historical artifacts & objects, entrance fee @IDR30k = Rm8.10
3) Auto-rickshaw ride (IDR10k = Rm2.70) from Museum of North Sumatra > Istana Maimun
4) Istana Maimon, Medan, Sumatra - an istana of the sultan of Deli & a well known landmark in Medan, it now serves as a museum, entrance fee IDR10k = Rm2.70
5) Rumah Makan Pondok Gurih, Medan, Sumatra - famous for it's curry fish head & nasi sayur wrappped in banana leaf, savoured a media curry fish head @IDR156k (Rm42) & nasi sayur @IDR26k (Rm7), totalloed food bill inclusive of tax IDR230k (Rm62 = US$14)
6) Continued my walkabout in downtown Medan ........
7) Setia Budi Temple, Medan, Sumatra - Medan's oldest & most revered Buddhist temple, a huge complex temple dedicated to General Guan Yi & a magnificent thousand hands Guan Yin statute.
8) Up-market commercial & high end residential area in downtown Medan.
9) Metro Mall & Lotte Mart Medan Central Point, Sumatra
10) City Railway Station, Medan, Sumatra - the main railway station in Medan, North Sumatra, the station also has service to Kualanamu International Airport via Kualanamu ARS.
11) City Hall & the surrounding area in downtown Medan.
12) Bye bye Medan ! Boarding the Aerobus ride (Rm80 = US$18.20) from Medan Bus Terminal (departing 22.00) > Dumai (approx 522km, 12 hours), a complimentary packet of finger food given to every Aerobus passenger on board the bus ! A long bus ride (but cosy & comfortable) awaiting for both of us !
