Day 9 Friday May 30 2025 (Dumai & Pekanbaru, Sumatra) - after my one night stay in Dumai, my next city of destination is Pekanbaru. Took a day bus ETD10.00 (IDR50k = Rm13.50) from Dumai Bus Terminal > Pekanbaru (160km, approx 3 hours). 

Dumai > Pekabaru (160km), Sumatra

1) My hotel buffet breakfast (complimentary) in Maxone Dumai, Sumatra; nice breakfast & yummy yummy taste ! 

2) Dumai Bus Terminal - paid IDK50k (Rm13.50 ETD 10.00) x 2 bus tickets for our bus ride from Dumai > Pekanbaru via toll (160km approx 3 hours)

3) Countryside scenery from Dumai > Pekanbaru - Pekanbaru is the biggest oil palm city in Indonesia ! 

4) Upon arrival in Pekanbaru Bus Terminal, we made a booking for 2 overnight bus tickets for our bus ride from Pekanbaru > Bukittinggi (ETD 22.00 & ETA 03.30)

5) Took a city bus ride from Pekanbaru Bus Terminal to downtown Pekanbaru & a Grab (16k = Rm4.30) to Amaris Hotel for check-in . 

6) Hotel Accommodation (Pekanbaru) - my 2 nights stay in Amaris Hotel, Pekanbaru, room tariff Rm94 (US$21.40) + breakfast, twin sharing. 

7) Walkabout from Amaris Hotel > Sukaramai Trade Center, Pekanbaru - familiarisation visit. ! 

8) Sukaramai Trade Center, Pekanbaru, Sumatra

9) Mall Pekanbaru, Sumatra - window shopping in a modern shopping mall ! 

10) Bought 4 pieces of Tiga Rasa bread IDR37k (Rm10.00) from a local bread shop in downtown Pekanbaru & pastry snack IDR12 (Rm 5.15)  from a roadside stall. 

11) Sate Bundo Kanduang, Pekanbaru, Sumatra - a famous satay restaurant in Pekanbaru, each of us savoured a 6 sticks of Padang beef satay + 1 ketupat @IDR25k (Rm6.75), enjoyed very much eating in this satay restaurant serving the best Padang satay in town !  

12) Masjid Agung An-Nur, Pekanbaru, Sumatra - constructed in 1963 & completed in 1968, one of the largest mosque in Indonesia, can accommodate up to 4,500 worshippers !  

13) HKBP Pekanbaru, Sumatra - a Protestant church in Pekanbaru. 

Day 10 Saturday May 31 2025 (Pekanbaru, Sumatra)  - my final day stay in Pekanbaru prior to taking a night bus (ETD22.00) from Pekanbaru Bus Terminal > Bukittingi (ETA03.30; bad weather this morning while doing my morning walk in downtown Pekanbaru, both our shoes were wet as most part of the low lying area in downtown Pekanbaru were inundated with pool of water !

2) Walkabout in downtown Pekanbaru under a wet weather. 

3) Pasar Buah (Fruit Market) Pekanbaru, Sumatra

4) Sultan Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah Bridge (Siak IV Bridge, Pekanbaru, Sumatra

5) Masjid Raya Pekanbaru, Sumatra - built in 1762 by Sultan Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah, the 4th Sultan of the Government of Siak Sri Indraputra. 

6) Vihara Dharma Loka, Pekanbaru, Sumatra

7) NPM Bus ride (Rm46)  from Dumai Bue Terminal   (Departing 23.00) > Pekanbaru.
