Day 8 Thursday May 29 2025 (Medan & Dumai, Sumatra) - after Medan & Lake Toba visits, my next destination is Dumai, Riau, a port city with a closest ferry link to Malaysia ports, a brief one night stay to get a feel of the place before moving on to Pekanbaru, not many tourist places in Dumai so just take it easy & relax !

1) R & R stopover for morning prayer & toilet run
2) Hotel accommodation (Dumai, Sumatra); my 1 night stay in Maxone Hotel, Dumai Port, room tariff Rm126, twin sharing + breakfast
3) Walkabout in downtown Dumai, the town is small so easy to explore & visit the major touristy places, Dumai port has regular fery services to coastal towns / cities on the West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia ie Muar, Melaka & Port Dickson.
4) Free shuttle bus services provided by Dumai Express Group > Dumai Port / Ferry Terminal (one way)
5) Gereja Kemenangan Iman Indonesia, Gabang Dumai.
6) Dumai Islamic Center, Habiburrahman Great Mosque, Kota Dumai, Riau
7) Taman Bukit Gelanggang, Dumai, Sumatra
8) Dumai Kota Idaman
9) Ramayana Shopping Mall, Dumai, Sumatra
10) Kampoeng Kuliner, Dumai, Sumatra - a number of F & B stalls operating here & the place became very lively in the evening !
11) Continued my walkabout along Jalan Sudirman, the main road in Dumai, Sumatra,
12) Dinner in a local restaurant in downtown Dumai - KM's delight, a plate of Nasi Goreng @IDR25k (Rm6.75) & KF's delight, rice with curry beef, KF bought some groundnuts to munch after the dinner !
13) Grocery shopping in Alfamart in downtown Dumai - a pack of chocolate & coconut buns & a packet of biscuits, totalled IDK71 (Rm19)
