India (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 7 - My 37 days Free & Easy Visit to Northern, Central & Southern India) City No 4 Jodhpur, Rajasthan - Dec 19 & 20 2023 (Day 10 & 11)

Day 10 Dec 19 2023 - taking a day train from Jaisalmer > Jodhpur & a late hotel check in Govind Hotel, Jodhpur. 

Train ride from Jaisalmer Junction > Jodhpur Junction by JSM SBIB Express (15.10 > 20.30, 301km, approx 5 1/2 hrs)

Arriving in Jodhpur Junction (21.15) & hiring of a porter (Rp200 = Rm11.60) to help carried our big luggage (over 20kg) & a cabin size luggage (10kg) to the railway station exit area for a auto-rickshaw ride to Govind Hotel for our hotel check-in. 


Hotel Accommodation: my 3 nights stay in Govind Hotel, Jodhpur, Rajasthan Rp1,200 = Rm70 (twin sharing) per room night. 


Jodhpur, Rajasthan - a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan, its 15th century Mehrangarh Fort is a former palace that's now a museum, displaying weapons, paintings & elaborate royal palanquins (sedan chairs), set on a rocky outcrop, the fort overlooks the walled city where many buildings are painted the city's iconic shade of blue. 

Day 11 Dec 20 2023 (Jodhpur) - after a good night sleep, both of us enjoyed a hotel breakfast at the Rooftop prior to venturing out to get a 1st glimpse of Jodhpur city also called the Blue City or The Sun City

Janta Sweet Home, Jodhpur, Rajasthan - a famous sweet confectionery shop, opposite the Govind Hotel in Jodhpur city ! 


Early morning stroll along the main road & walled city of Jodhpur near our hotel - familiarisation visit ! 


Late morning visit from Govind Hotel > Merti Gate / Clock Tower / Sardar Market / Mehrangarh Fort - historic & interesting ! 

Light lunch in Sardar Market, Jodphur

Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), Jodhpur, Rajasthan - an ancient clock tower believed to be the sole source for tracking time for locals during the olden days, built by Maharaja Sardar Singh about 200 years ago ! 


Sardar Market, Jodhpur, Rajasthan - named after Sardar Singh who was the former ruler of Jodhpur. 


Toori Ka Jhalra (Queen's Stepwell), Jodhpur, Rajasthan - construction in 1740, built by a Queen, Maharaja Abhay Singh's Consort, 200ft in depth, a 18th century stepwell featuring intricate carvings.

Bike hire inquiry with a local bike renting shop in Jodhpur City for our intended use in the following day !
