India (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 7 - My 37 days Free & Easy Visit to Northern, Central & Southern India) City No 12 - Ooty, Tamil Nadu - Jan 10 2024 (Day 31)

Day 31 Jan 10 2024 (City No 12 - Ooty) Travel itinerary: Mysuru (Mysore) > Ooty, Tamil Nadu (128km, by KSRTC bus Rp200 Senior = Rm11.60, 08.30 > 12.30, 4hr)

Ooty, Tamil Nadu - also known as Udhagamandalam is a resort town in the Western Ghats mountains, in southern India's Tamil Nadu state, founded as a British Raj summer resort, it retains a working stream railway line, other reminders of its colonial past include Stone House, a 19th century residence, & the 1829 St Stephen's Church, its 55acre Government Botanical Garden lies on the slope of Doddabetta peak.

Day 1 Jan 10 2024 - my 4 days stay to visit the major tourist places in & around Ooty & also to ride on the UNESCO century old toy train from Udagamandalam (UAM), Ooty to Metupalaiyamk (MTP). 

Hotel Accommodation: my 3 nights stay in AAKASH Rooms & Cottages, Ooty, Tamil Nadu Rp1982 (twin sharing) per night = Rm114


1) KSRTC bus passing the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (part of the Mudumalai National Park) in the district of Tamil Nadu state (36km from Ooty), my 1st glimpse followed by another visit to the Park after joining a Ooty Day Tour Package No 2 on my Day 3 stay, picturesque, its where Nature thrives & animals roam freely, home to 55 species of mammals, 227 species of birds, 50 species of fishes, 21 species of amphibians & 34 species of reptiles, this includes many endangered species of animals including elephants, tigers, gaur & Indian leopards. 
   

2) Nilgiri mountains - form part of the Western Ghats in northestern Tamil Nadu, Southern Karnataka & eastern Kerala in India, they are located at the trijunction of three states & connects the Western Ghats with the Eastern Ghats.  


3) Countryside scenery, village towns, tea gardens, row & row of tall Eucalyptus trees along the main trunk road, small eats by the roadside food stalls, houses on hillslopes in suburban Ooty as the bus drove pass the Nilgiri National Park towards Ooty.
