India (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 7 - My 37 days Free & Easy Visit to Northern, Central & Southern India) City No 3 Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - Dec 18 & 19 2023 (Day 8 & 9)

Jaisalmer Fort, Rajasthan - built in 1156 by the Indian King Rawal Jaisal, a 250 ft tall fort, protected by 30ft long walls, the fort stands amidst the sandy expanse of the great Thar Desert on Trikuta Hill, the fort constitutes 99 bastions, 92 were built between 1633 & 1647, one of the very few "living forts" in the world as nearly one fourth of the old city's population still resides within the fort. 

Day 9 Dec 18 2023 (Final Day) - rented bike ride to Jaisalmer Fort hilltop in the early morning, a slow walk passing bustling lanes, Sunset Point & Jain Temple. 


Jaisalmer Fort Jain Temple - a group of 7 Jain temples inside Jaisalmer Fort, Rajasthan, these ancient Jain temples are well known for their intricate carvings & attract many tourists & religious devotees, admission fee Rp250 = Rm14.50 for foreign tourists.  


Desert Culture Centre & Folklore Museum, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - museum dedicated to Rajasthani heritage, art & customs with a nightly puppet show, external visit only.


State Museum Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - houses a rich collection of marine & wood fossils along with sculptures from Kiradu & Lodurva townships of 12th century, external visit only

Jaisalmer Fort front entrance - visited the fort hilltop twice (once in evening by auto-rickshaw & a second visit by rented bike) ! So both of us had seen this mighty hill fort at our own leisure by day & night, fully satisfied in our 1st visit to Jaisalmer, a dream fulfilled ever since I made my 1st visit to Incredible India in July 2007 !

Day 9 Dec 19 2023 - my final day in Jaisalmer, my next destination is Jodphur. 

Morning breakfast - porridge with sweet potatoes, sliced ginger, white carrots & preserved vegetables ! 


Walkabout in Shri Jawahir District Hospital (1941), Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - the main government hospital & the most famous healthcare facilities in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. 


My walkabout in Hanuman Chauraha (a circle near Gandhi Monument) area prior to our departure to Jodhpur by day train departing 15.10, this area served the best milk drink & masala tea ! Bye bye Jaisalmer - extremely pleased with the outcome of my 4 days 3 nights stay in Jaisalmer !
