Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru
Karnataka, India
UB City, Bengaluru, Kartanaka, India

Day 26 Jan 6 2024 (Bengaluru) - my 1st day arrival in Bengaluru city & visited Cubbon Park, High Court, Vidhana Soudha, UB City & St Mary Basilica.

1) Our sleeper train from Hospet, Hampi (departing 21.10) arrived at the KSR Bengaluru (SBC) Karnataka at 06.30 (397km, 10hr), took an auto-rickshaw from the Bengaluru railway station to our hotel (Signature Inn) for an early check in (08.30)

2) Hotel Accommodation: my 2 nights stay in Signature Inn, Bengaluru city Rp1,168 = Rm68 (twin sharing) per room night.

3) Morning breakfast (08.00) in New Udupi Grand restaurant nearby our hotel, ordered a set of masala dosa & idli + masala tea - cheap,  tasty & an ideal breakfast for 2 Malaysian wanderbug from a distant land !

Masala Dosa Rp30 = Rm1.80
Idli Rp30 = Rm1.80

4) Walkabout the Bengaluru city nearby our hotel - a familiarisation visit & getting to get a feel & pulse of this so called "Silicon Valley" of India !

5) After the hotel check in & a short rest, both of us took a Metro train from Majestic station (one way Rp15 = Rm0.90) > Cubbon Park station (3 stops) & visited the Cubbon Park, High Court & Vidhana Souha area, very happy with the Metro services & this made our visits to major touristy places (3 to 4 km away from our hotel) & moving around the city much easier !

Majestic Metro Station

7) While exiting the Majestic Metro station, I spotted a series of paintings depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi from young to old ..... pictures said a thousand words about this great stateman of India, an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist & political ethicist who adopted a nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from the British rule.

8) Cubbon Park, Bengaluru, Karnataka - a landmark park (100 acres) in Bengaluru in the Central Administrative Area, originally created in 1870 under Major General Richard Sankey, then British Chief Engineer of Mysore State, a statute in memory of King Edward VII was erected in this public park !

9) Press Club of Bengaluru, Karnataka

10) High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru

11) Vidhana Souha, Bengaluru, Karnataka - a building which serves as the seat of the state legislature at Karnataka, constructed in Neo-Dravidin style & completed in 1956.

12) Dr B R Ambedka Sin Vidhana Soudha Metro Train Station, Bengaluru

13) UB City - a business district in Bengaluru, consists of 6 blocks with a total built up area of over 16 lakh sq ft, pioneered by the UB Group in joint venture with Prestige Group, built on a 13 acres of land & hosts 1 million sq ft of high end commercial retail & service apartment space; although Christmas Day is over but a tall Christmas tree is still standing tall in the mall, greeting both of us as this was my 1st visit to an overseas country during the Christmas & New Year period missing the festive fun & atmosphere in my home country backyard !

14) Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bengaluru, Karnataka - external visit only !

13) Government Museum, Bengaluru, Karnataka - external visit only !

14) Bus ride (Rp10 = Rm0.60) from the Government Museum bus stand > St Mary Basilica, Bengaluru & return, a long day indeed but well worth the efforts as both of us used a combination of public transport ie Metro, auto-rickshaws & local town buses to get to our destinations, nothing venture nothing gain ! Thanks to the mobile phone technology as both of us were heavily relying the GPS apps to guide us moving around the city !
