Day 19 Dec 29 2023 (Mumbai) - my 2nd day in Mumbai, focused my visit to Elephanta Caves, Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel & Colaba Causeway; my last visit to Mumbai was in Sept 2019.   

Elephanta Caves (UNESCO), Mumbai, Maharashtra - a collection of cave temples predominantly dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Elephanta Island or Gharapuri in Mumbai Harbour, 10km east of Mumbai, Maharashtra, my 1st visit, admission fee Rp600 = Rm34.80. 

Ferry ride from Gate No 4 (behind Gateway of India) > Elephanta Caves Rp260 = Rm15 return. 


Elephanta mini train ride (Rp18 = Rm1.05) from the jetty > Elephanta hill station (5 minutes)


Entry to Elephanta Caves, Security Screening, Ticketing Booth, Souvenir & Food & Beverage Stalls - admission fee Rp600 = Rm34.80 (foreigners), Rp40 = Rm2.40 (locals)

Return ferry ride from Elephanta Island > Gateway of India, Mumbai. 


Gateway of India, Mumbai, Maharashtra - an arch monument completed in 1924 on the waterfront of Mumbai, erected to commemorate the landing of George V for his coronation as the Emperor of India in December 1911 at Strand Road near Wellington Fountain, he was the first British monarch to visit India. 


Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, Maharashtra - a heritage, 5 star luxury hotel in the Colaba area of Mumbai situated next to the Gateway of India; my last visit to Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai was in Sept 2019. 


Colaba Causeway, Mumbai, India - officially known as Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, a commercial street & a major causeway or land link between Colaba & the Old Woman's Island in the city of Mumbai, my last visit was in Sept 2019. 


The Victorian & Art Deco Ensemble of Mumbai (UNESCO) - a group of notable architectural buildings set along a peninsula in the Arabian Sea, grand structures surround grassy Oval Maidan Park including the imposing 19th century High Court of Bombay, white cricket games are popular at Brabourne Stadium, the area is also home to the University of Mumbai as well as casual eateries. 

Morning local train ride from Mumbai Central > Church Gate to visit the Oval Maidan Park & The Victorian & Art Deco Ensemble of Mumbai (400m) followed by Gateway of India & Taj Mahal Palace Hotel; grey sky & misty weather during our early morning visit !
