India (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 7 - My 37 days Free & Easy Visit to Northern, Central & Southern India) City No 6 Jaipur, Rajasthan - Dec 25 & 26 2023 (Day 15 & 16)

Day 15 Dec 25 2023 - Merry Christmas ! Train ride from Udaipur City > Jaipur Junction (JP) 06.00 > 13.40 Class 2A Rp625 = Rm36 (435km), my 1st overseas visit during the Christmas period hence missed the Christmas festive mood in my home country, Malaysia ! 

Udaipur > Jaipur (435km)

Jaipur, Rajasthan - capital of India's Rajasthan state, it evokes the royal family that once ruled the region & in 1727 founded what is now called the Old City or "Pink City" for its trademark building color, at the center of its stately street grid stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex with gardens, courtyards & museums, part of it is still a royal residence. 

Hotel Accommodation: my 3 nights stay in Blue King Guest House, Jaipur Rp1,763 = Rm102 (twin sharing) per room night. 

Day 16 Dec 26 2023 (Jaipur) - bike hire (Rp870 inclusive of petrol = Rm50) for my day's visit to Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, Lake Sagar & Jal Mahal together with my travel buddy.  


Hawa Mahal, Jaipur, Rajasthan - a palace in the city of Jaipur, built from red & pink sandstone, located on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur & extends to the Zenana or women's chambers, a popular historic landmark, crowded & bad traffic along the main road, my last visit to Hawa Mahal was in July 2007, a lapse of 16 years ! 


Amber Fort (UNESCO), Amber, Rajasthan - a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, Amer is a town with an area of 4 square km located 11km from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, located high on the hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur, Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements; admission fee Rp502 = Rm29, horrendous traffic from the main road to the Fort entrance, traffic jam could take 30 minutes or more, a tedious uphill walk (10 to 15 minutes) from the vehicle parking area to the Fort entrance / ticketing booth, scenic view from the top,  just external visit only, my last visit to Amber Fort was in July 2007 !


Panna Meena Ka Kund, Amber, Rajasthan - a historic stepwell & rainwater catchment known for its picturesque symmetrical stairways. 


Lake Sagar, Amber, Jaipur, Rajasthan - near Panna Meena Kund, Jaipur hidden gem & beauty, the primary source of water for the adjoining forts of Amber & Jaigarh as well as the city of Amber.  
 

Jal Mahal. Jaipur, Rajasthan - a palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur City, the palace was originally constructed around 1699, the building & the lake around it were later renovated & enlarged in the early 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh 11 of Amber. 


My self prepared dinner - simple, no frills but filling !
