India (Pangong Tso, Ladakh) July 2007 D-12

Our group made a right decision in choosing a tourist camp as our mountain retreat for our overnight stay in Pangong Tso. The surrounding environment was superb. Make sure you bring along a torchlight as the place was very dim at night relying on diesel powered generators to light up the place. The wind was strong and the temperature dropped to 1-2C at night so you need a jacket to keep you warm. Janna, our HC member from Germany had chosen to sleep outside of the camp with her sleeping bag and a face mask - very courageous lady ! We had tp sleep early as it was too cold and windy for us to move around the camp site.

The following pictures gave testimony to this so called Wonderland Tourist Camp in Taktak:

1) The rugged mountain road leading to the Wonderland Tourist Camp. Roaring river , dry and bare mountain slopes, clear blue sky, cool mountain air- a real paradise !

The blue sky & the rugged mountain range
Beautiful natural landscape !

2) My first experience staying in tourist camping tent. Each of us was allocated a camping tent to sleep come with a double bed with a thick blanket.

What a wonderful experience - we were well taken care here !
An unusual place for accommodation
I stayed for a night in one of these camping tents

3) Having our Tibetan style dinner and breakfast at the camp site. Kashmiri rice, roti, curry chicken, dhal & peas for dinner; butter, cheese, honey, bread for the morning breakfast

Just relax and admire the surrounding environment !
Our dinner for today !
Good morning ! Breakfast time !

4) Took an evening stroll near the camp site. Saw a herd of Kashmir sheep crossing a small wooden bridge and following a shepherd home.

Tame & discipline - time to go home

5) After a good night sleep, I woke up early and did a Qigong exercise on a small road facing behind a rugged mountain.

Practising my Qigong to recover my energy

" Tourist camps, Qigong practice, cold mountain air, roaring river, tame Kashmiri sheep - how not to fall in love in this place "
