The bus journey from Mudanjiang to Yanji took about 6.5 hrs.

I stayed for 2 nights in a small family owned hotel located in the opposite of the Yanbian University.

Yanji is the capital of Yanbian. Given the close proximity of Yanji with the Korean peninsula, majority of the residents here are descendants of Korean people especially from the Changbai Shan area. Korean products including food (dog meat & cold Korean noodle are popular) are widely sold here. This is the town which really have a strong Korean character.

Yanji is very close to Tumen, a border town near North Korea. You could also visit the nearby Changbai Shan & Baihe from Yanji.

In Yanji, I devoted much of my time visiting the town centre, Yanji bridge, Renmin's Park & the Changbai Shan People's Cultural Park.
