I took a normal train from Changchun and arrived Dandong in the late afternoon. On arrival, the hostel owner picked me up from the train station.
Yalu Jiang, Yalu River bridge, broken bridge, boat cruise to North Korea border; these were the main tourist attractions I visited in Dandong, lies in the border of Lioaning province & North Korea.
At the advice of the hostel, I joined a day tour (CNY100-lunch included) to the upper Yalu river for a boat cruise to the river side of North Korea, the Korean War Memorial, the Tiger Mountain Great Wall & the Broken Bridge (Duan Qiao). Some of these places lie in the outskirts of Dandong so joining a day tour is probably the best option. The day tour also took us to two popular dried seafood & souvenir shops so it was also a happy shopping occasion for our bus load of tourists.
As my hostel is located within walking distance to the Yalu Jiang & the Yalu River bridge, I was able to take a morning & evening stroll to the Yalu river front area during my three day stay in Dandong.

3) Ya Lu River (Jiang), Dandong, Liaoning - also known by Koreans as the Amrok or Ammok River, a river on the border between China & North Korea, together with the Tumen River to its east & a small portion of Paektu Mountain, the Yalu forms the border between China & North Korea.
4) New Yalu River Bridge (Railway), Dandong, Liaoning - replaced the Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge (built in 1905 but blown up by United States Air Force in 1950 during the Korean War !), a bridge across the Yalu or Amnok River on the China-North Korea border, connects the cities of Dandong in China & Sinuiji of North Korea by railway & roadway but pedestrians are not allowed to cross between either side.

6) Upper Yalu River day tour visit to Hushan Great Wall, Dandong, Liaoning - the starting point of the eastern front of the Great Wall of China, just a glimpse from the outside entrance !
