China (Tumen, Jilin) Aug 2015

Total expenses incurred (Day Trip) : CNY84
Food: CNY50
Long Distance Bus: CNY15 x 2  (Yanji > Tumen > Yanji)
Town bus: CNY4

You can easily do a day trip by bus from Yanji to Tumen, travelling time is about 1 hour.

The China-North Korea Cultural Center, the Tumen river front & the Sun Mountain Forest park were the main attractions I visited as a tourist here.

The Tumen river is a boundary border between China, Russia & North Korea. Along the Tumen river front, there is a foot path (2-3km) with a written notice board erected by the road side to guide tourists for a leisure walk along the demarcation line and this path leads you to the Sun Mountain Forest Park where you could see the closest North Korean town of Namyang from uphill.

In the 90's, there were numerous reports on illegal crossings or defecting by North Koreans to this Chinese border town.
