I stayed for a night in a youth hostel in the suburb of Xichang, located within walking distance to the Qionghai lake (wetland). This lake is the 2nd largest in Sichuan and is 4.5 times that of the West lake in Hangzhou, covering an area of 31.2 sq km. The lake has a big & beautiful garden and is a favorite recreation place for locals & tourists - really worth a visit !
The following day, I took an afternoon train from Xichang to Mt Emei, an UNESCO world heritage site.
