The bus ride from Shangrila to Lijiang took about 3hrs.
My last visit to Lijiang (an UNESCO world heritage site) was in Sept 2010. As my next destination is Lugu Lake and due to a wet weather forecast, I decided to stay for 3 nights in Lijiang until the sky is clearer.
Given the extended stay, and together with 2 local Chinese travelers, we rented a bike and decided to visit the Baisha & Shuhe old towns, located about 15-20km from Lijiang old town. In between times, I loitered around the Lijiang old town ie the Square & Wuyi streets, Big water wheel area. At night, we walked to the bar & disco area to get a feel of the vibrant night life of Lijiang.
Our youth hostel is located within walking distance to Lijiang old town and there are many eatery shops in the vicinity.
