I departed Xichang by train at 14.50 and arrived at Emei train station at 21.30. From the train station, I took a taxi to Teddy Bear Hotel in Baoguo Village. I stayed for 3 nights in Baoguo / Mt Emei.
Mt Emei is an UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the 4 sacred Buddhism mountains in China. The others are Wutai Shan, Jiuhua Shan & Putuo Shan.
On the 2nd day morning, I took a first bus (07.00) from Baoguo bus station to Leidongping bus station (2,430m). From Leidongping, I took a cable car to the Jinding (Golden Summit -3,077m). At the summit, you will be greeted by the breath taking scenery, sea of clouds, natural landscape & historical Buddhist sites.
For hikers, you may do the ascend starting in Baoguo Temple to Qingyin pavilion (10km) and then to Wannian Temple (4km). Higher up, you could continue your hiking to Elephant Bathing Pool(15km) and then to Jieyin Hall (5.5km). The final ascent is the Golden Summit (4km). This may require 2 days and a night stay at one of the budget hostel in Mt Emei. The entrance ticket is valid for 2 days.
As I am a no hiker, I took the easy out by taking the tourist bus from Baoguo bus station and then a cable car right up to the Golden Summit.
After Emei, I took a bus to Chengdu and stayed on for 3 nights awaiting for my flight back to Malaysia.

After all these years of travelling to the mountainous areas of China, I had left my foot prints in Hua shan, Wudang shan, Lu shan, Wuyi shan, Wulingyuan, Tai shan, Changbai shan, Qingcheng shan and now Emei shan - but there is one more to fulfil ie Huang shan - hope my dream will come true one day !
