Day 3 - Thursday 16th May 2019 New York, USA Part 2

After a short lunch at the southern end of Central Park in Upper Manhattan, our group using our mobile phone GPS, continued our walking tour to Midtown Manhattan area where most of the major tourist & iconic sites & landmarks are located ie Rockefeller Center, Time Squares, United Nation Plaza, 9/11 Memorial etc, the best moments awaiting us as our group continued our "treasure hunts" in this mega city !

12) New York Stock Exchange, Lower Manhattan

13) 9/11 Memorial & Museum & Ground Zero Memorial - commemorating the Sept 11, 2001 attacks which killed 2,977 people and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing which killed 6. The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers that were destroyed during the Sept 11 attacks.

14) One World Trade Center / One World Observatory - the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center Complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City; now the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere & the 6th tallest in the world.

15) World Trade Center - very impressive indeed !

16) The World Trade Center site - formerly referred to as "Ground Zero" or "the Pile" immediately after the Sept 11 attacks, is a 14.6 acre area in Lower Manhattan in New York City.

17) Brookfield Place & North Cove Marina - commonly referred as World Financial Center is a shopping center cum office building complex located across West Street from the World Trade Center in the Battery Park city neighborhood of Manhattan.

18) New York Chinatown (Mott & Canal Street) - a vibrant & densely populated neighborhood with many Chinese & South East Asia restaurants offering foodies & tourists Chinese style food such as dumplings, dim sum, hand pulled noodles, roasted pork & duck etc. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, tea shops & fresh produce markets selling a wide range of imported Chinese processed food ranging from herbs, dried seafood, spices etc. Locals hang out in the green Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess & mahjong !

19) Little Italy in Mulberry Street, a few blocks from Chinatown

20) Manhattan Bridge near Chinatown - this suspension bridge crosses the East River in New York City, connecting Lower Manhattan at Canal Street with Downtown Brooklyn at the Flatbush Avenue Extension. In my final day in New York, while walking the Brooklyn Bridge, I could see this magnificent Manhattan Bridge from a distance !
