| The word "Dragon" or "Loong" ! |
- English version of "Dragon" as "Loong" ? In Malaysia, most people probably speak & write in Malaysian's style English called "Manglish" ! Celebrating the Dragon year of 2024 in a "Loong Loong Way" for every cycle of 12 years under the Chinese Zodiac signs in order of animals starting Rat followed by Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog & Pig !
- I was born a Tiger & my wife a "Dragon". So "Dragon & Tiger Fight" is gently OK at times but both of us have been together for the last 45 years in marriage !
- Sightings of "Roaring" arrivals of tourists from China in premier shopping malls & touristy places in Kuala Lumpur (granted 14 days visa-free for entry to Malaysia)
- Hearing the drum & gong in loud beat (Dong Dong Qiang) by performers of "Dragon & Lion" dance in shopping malls, Chinese New Year is near the corner
- Expecting a "Dragon Baby" boom in 2024
- Paying higher prices for "Dragon Meat" (bakkwa - a salty sweet dried meat), roasted pork belly costs Rm90 (US$18.50) a kilo, dragon meat probably costs more !
- Fish with a high price tag & expensive taste ie "Long Dan" a wild caught deep sea fish (a giant grouper) found in the waters around Malaysia & Indonesia
- Longan in English is "Dragon Eye", Dragon Fruit is high in Vitamin C & antioxidants so keep an eye on dragon fruit when you see one !
- Is Chinese people a "Descendant of the Dragon ? Han people in China consider Huang Di & Yan Di as their common ancestors & refer themselves as the "Descendants of the Dragon"
- Have you seen the kung fu movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) starring by Malaysian Oscar Best Actress winner (awarded in 2023), Michelle Yeoh & another martial art movie entitled "Enter the Dragon" starring Bruce Lee filmed in 1973 ?
- If you are strong & muscular, make an endeavour to participate in a Dragon Boat (a human powered watercraft) race in China or Hong Kong
- Every morning, if you do not wake up on the wrong side of the bed, this means you still have "Long ma jingshen" like the spirit & vitality of the "Dragon & Horse" !
- The Golden Dragon Fish, the Asian Arowana, in Feng Shui, this fish is regarded as the most fortunate fish & a lucky emblem due to its red hue & scales that resemble coins
- "Dragon Chicken" or Dong Tao chicken is a rare Vietnamese chicken breed with enlarged feet, the meat is a delicacy, once bred exclusively to be served to the royal family & mandarins
- "Dragonfly", a tropical flying insect has unique ability, these insects can fly backwards, up & down, "Dragonfly" reminds us to live life to the fullest

Thursday Feb 8 2024 - Chinese New Year Dragon Decor in The Exchange TRX, Jalan Tun Razak, Imbi, Kuala Lumpur - my 3rd visit since the official opening of this mega shopping mall in Nov 2023, a number of new restaurants serving popular provincial style food from China has made her first debut in Kuala Lumpur !

Thursday Feb 8 2024 - Kwai Chai Hong, Lorong Panggung, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - a century old small alley behind Petaling Street with numerous murals depicting the daily life at this place in the 1960s & the good old days ! For this CNY Dragon year decor, a Mahjong game theme (a tribute to the history of Mahjong, a tile based game developed since the Qing Dynasty in the 19th century in China) was installed in this heritage laneway !

Sunday Jan 28 2024 - Yong Tau Foo lunch in Puchong BT14 (Taman Equine) Restaurant with my wife & sisters Inn, Peng & Mei in Taman Equine, Sri Kembangan, Selangor - total food bill (assorted yong tau food @Rm2.20 per piece + Assam fish (Rm13) + Bowl Cakes @Rm3.50 + hot tea = Rm75 (US$16) for a table of 5. Good Company, Good Food & Good Time !
