Day 5 Dec 15 2023 (Bikaner): my final day in Bikaner, took an early morning stroll to the Kote Gate & old Bikaner railway crossing junction surrounded by a busy market; using auto-rickshaws, both of us also visited Lallgarh Palace Hotel, Shree Sadul MuseumThe Laxmi Niwas Palace Hotel & downtown Bikaner; departed Bikaner Junction at 12.00 midnight > Jaisalmer Junction, my next destination.

Enjoying a breakfast (Rp150 = Rm8.70) in our homestay hotel - bread + fresh papaya & banana + hot tea.

Cityscape of Bikaner as viewed from the rooftop of our guest house.

Downtown Bikaner as viewed from an auto-rickshaw ride !

The Lallgarh Palace Hotel, Bikaner, Rajasthan  - built in 1896, this palatial hotel in an Indo-Saracenic style sandstone building is 2.3km from the Karni Mata Temple & 2.6km from the Junagarth Fort, given that Shree Sadul Museum & Laxmi Niwas Palace Hotel are all located near one another, you could do these three visits at the same time ! The Lallgarth Palace Hotel's colonial style architecture, stylish interior decor, elegant looking corridors, halls & walk paths, cosy & nice ambience, lush green gardens, is probably in the same league with that of Raffles Hotel of Singapore, E & O Hotel of Penang, Malaysia & Hotel Majapahit (Oranje) of Surabaya, Indonesia which I had the opportunity to visit in recent years ! I really enjoyed my time roaming & admiring this iconic palace hotel in Bikaner although I was not the hotel guest of the day !

Monument of Maharaja Sir Ganga Singhji Bahadur, The Lalgarth Palace Hotel, Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Yagyashala - inside the Lalgarth Palace Hotel is a red stone building constructed in 1920 for performance of religious ceremonies by the royal family of Bikaner.

The Laxmi Niwas Palace Hotel, Bikaner, Rajasthan - a 100 year old heritage palace with 45 deluxe rooms & 15 royal suites, owned & operated by the Maharaja Ganga Singh Ji Trust.

Shree Sadul Museum, Bikaner, Rajasthan - a private museum built by famous shooter Maharaja Dr Karni Singh dedicated to Maharaja Sadul Singh & Rao Bikaji Dynasty.

A local wedding ceremony near our hotel in Bikaner, attended by family friends & relatives !

"Animal Kingdom" in Bikaner, Rajasthan - goats & cows wandering in residential area near where our homestay guest house ! Some goats (pretty good looking with elongated ears) were well dressed due probably to the cold winter weather, be kind to them as they are passive, humble & well mannered but beware of "landmines" ie cow dung especially at night, if you step on it, you will have a tough time to clean up your shoes !

Bikaner Junction, Rajasthan - sleeper train ride from Bikaner Junction > Jaisalmer Junction (12.00 midnight > 05.25, 319km, 5 1/2 hr) Rp620Rp = Rm39 Class 3A
