Day 7 Dec 17 2023 - my 1st exciting day in Jaisalmer, focusing our visit to downtown Jaisalmer & the old Haveli area, as both of us arrived early (06.30) & after leaving our luggage in the hotel reception, we started our walk from our hotel to downtown Jaisalmer to explore this dessert city of Rajasthan ..... the best is yet to come !

Hotel Accommodation (Jaisalmer): my 3 nights stay in Mirvana Guest House Rp1,311 = Rm76 (twin sharing) per room night.

Just Smile When In Jaisalmer !

Jaisalmer was founded by Jaisal Singh, popularly known as Rawal Jaisal in 1156AD, it is named after its founder with "Jaisal" representing the king's name & "Mer" signifying a fort, so it means "The Fort of Jaisal" emphasising the city's historic fortification & its royal heritage.

My 1st glimpse of Jaisalmer Fort & the downtown area within walking distance from our hotel.

Mandir Palace Hotel, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - a heritage property, a two centuries old palace converted into a hotel, magnificent architecture.

Patwa Haveli, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan - located in a narrow lane in the old part of Jaisalmer, Patwa Haveli is a cluster of 5 large havelis (mansions) in Jaisalmer, Patwon Ki Haveli is also known as the Mansion of Brocade Merchants, built in 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa (an extremely wealthy man & a well known trader of his time), it took workers almost 55 years to complete the first haveli, Patwon Ki Haveli is the 1st & the largest haveli to be constructed in Jaisalmer, admission fee Rp300 = Rm17.40, classy interior decor, attractive gateway, archways, wall paintings & beautiful carved balconies, impressive display of various exhibits, panorama view of Jaisalmer city from the rooftop ...... I could not ask for more, paying Rp300 (Rm17 or US$3.60) for an hour of visit inside a haveli once upon a time owned by a rich merchant & lived with 5 of his sons in a 5 storied luxury mansion - I had walked past so much history as I exited the haveli .....

Evening walk to Jaisalmer Fort & a auto-rickshaw ride to the hilltop

Auto-rickshaw ride from the fort entrance > hilltop - our starry starry night in Jaisalmer Fort !
