Travel Itinerary: Kuantan > Pekan (approx 47km)



Day 4 (Thursday April 14) - after an overnight stay in Kuantan, our group made a visit to Teluk Cempedak & Kuantan 188 Tower in the early morning before taking a leisure drive (away from the hustle & bustle of city life) from Kuantan > Pekan (47km), a royal town in down south-east of Pahang for a staycation. After the Pekan visit, we moved on to Endau Rompin for an overnight homestay to explore Kuala Rompin. Both Pekan & Endau Rompin were my first time visit so there was some excitement in me when I showed up in both these country towns along the South-East coast of Peninsula Malaysia & close to the South China Sea ! 

1) Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan - also known as Palm Beach, located 5km east from Kuantan town centre, the white sandy beach, casuarinas & pine trees line the coast, with some rocky promontories  facing the South China sea. 


2) Kuantan 188 Tower, Jalan Besar, Kuantan, Pahang - admission fee Rm5 (US$1.20) for Malaysian senior citizens up to Observation Deck, located on the bank of Kuantan river, 2nd highest tower (188m) in Malaysia, from the Observation Deck, you can have a panoramic & magnificent view of Kuantan Town & Kuantan river for a mere US$1.20 tower ride to the top, a concession granted to all Malaysian senior citizens !

Day 4 (Thursday April 14 2022 Afternoon)

Pekan, Pahang - the royal town of Pahang state, its name comes from a flower, the Bunga Pekan, the old name was Inderapura, located 47km from Kuantan, the state capital of Pahang 

1) Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, Pekan


2) Muzium Pahang (Muzium Sultan Abu Bakar), Pekan, Pahang - built in 1929, display many artefacts which are important in the state's history & the local Malay culture; the building has been used for the official residence for British government, army barracks & official palace of Sultan Abu Bakar, free admission for Malaysian  senior citizens, it may take you to spend at least 3-4 hrs to view all the exhibits in this historic museum in Pekan !

2) The Malay Sultanate of Pahang Gallery, Muzium Pahang, Pekan, Pahang 


3) Gallery Personae Inderaputra, Muzium Pahang, Pekan, Pahang


4) Gallery of the Servant of Allah (SWT), Muzium Pahang, Pekan, Pahang - the gallery showcase works of art such as calligraphy of the names of Allah (SWT), collections of the famed Malay weapon known as keris, Malay manuscripts, symbolic of the wisdom, courage & strength of the community.


5) Gallery of The Palace - A Malay Intellectual Institution, Muzium Pahang, Pekan, Pahang - a place where all kinds of saga, epic, poetry & classical literature were composed, other works of art include music, textile, silver & copper art, the Palace also housed a wide collection of ceramics, mostly gifts received from traders from China, India, Japan & Britain etc. 



6) Sultan Abdullah Museum Mosque, Pekan, Pahang - less than 100m from Pahang Museum, due to time constraint, our group did not visit this museum !
