" My Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) day trip (Monday, 15th Oct 2018) accompanying my wife to visit the Nine Emperor God Festival in Ampang Village, Kuala Lumpur - my last visit was in the early 1970's "

Total expenses incurred: Rm34.20 (US$8.25)
Car park (self drive): Rm5.00
Food: Rm29.20

1) Chinese newspaper press media publicity on Nine Emperor God Festival in Nam Tian Kong, Ampang Village, Kuala Lumpur - for this year the celebration starts from 8th Oct and ending on 18th Oct 2018 (starts on the nine day of the nine moon of the Chinese lunar year); a ten day Taoist event, 156 year of history, biggest crowd during the evening & night time (10pm onwards), over 60 food stalls selling only vegetarian food, open 24 hrs for devotees to pray, temporary quarters catering for outstation worshippers, temple priests going into trance, welcoming deities on the eve of the 9th moon, festival parade to designated places, September month is the monsoon transit period so it often rains ….

2) Front & side entrance to Nine Emperor God Festival, Ampang Village

3) Stalls selling prayer's items, pastries, vegetarian food, drinks etc

Fortune Teller

4) Main Prayer Hall - devotees & worshippers offering & praying for good health, good fortune, good luck, peace & harmony, thanks for prayers fulfilled, donations & contributions in kind etc; smokes from the joss sticks make breathing difficult inside the hall so make a quick exit if the going is tough for your eyes !

5) Decorative ceilings carved with dragon, phoenix & bats in brilliant colors, all are auspicious symbols in Chinese culture, very much rooted; dragon is "yang" & phoenix is "ying"  both complement each other and symbolizes everlasting love & marital happiness whereas bat in Chinese is pronounced as "Fu" meaning prosperity ! Walls in ancient art, stone pillars featured in dragon & unique Chinese architecture, very meaningfull & really good for photo shooting !
