Malaysia (Historical Landmarks in Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur) Oct 2018 - Part 10



1) Tan Ka Hee Memorial Malaysia, Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall, 1, Jalan Maharajalela, Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur - in remembrance of Tan Ka Hee, a well respected South East Asia resident who contributed a lot in philanthropic & education works during the 2nd World War & the China civil war in the early 1900's ; helped to set up the Xiamen University in China & a founder of Nanyang Siang Pao

2) Tan Kah Kee Memorial Special Exhibition - The Brilliance of Wise Men - 3rd Floor, Chinese Assembly Hall 


3) Memorial of Tan Kah Kee (1874 - 1961) - born in Jimei Village, Fujian province, China, lived his life overseas for 40 years especially in Singapore & Malaya; used most of his wealth in setting up educational institutions to improve the welfare of the societies in Malaysia, Singapore & his homeland, China; in 1921, as an individual he founded & funded the Amoy University now called Xiamen University 


4) Exhibition on Lim Boon Keng - The Giant Who Walks On The Edge; a Singaporean Queen scholar & a physician by profession, who promoted the integration of Western & Eastern culture, social & educational reforms in Singapore; a close associate of Tan Ka Hee; the 1st President of Xiamen University in China (1921-1937)
