Having taken the Norwegian fiord cruise (2011) & the China's Yangtze River cruise (2009), I decided to join a one day tour program to Milford Sound from Queenstown, South Island - though the fiord cruise took only 1.5 hr but the other side tours that took us to Te Anau & Fiordland National Park chalked up a total of 12 hours by the time our bus dropped us off at our hostel at around 9.00pm in Queenstown !
I booked the Milford Sound tour through the hostel's reception and it was a good deal, others paid NZ$125 for a similar tour.
The highlights of this tour covered a stopover to Te Anau town & passing the Lake Te Anau; the Eglinton Valley; Mirror Lake; the Milford Road; the Chasm Walkway and finally the Milford Sound cruise.
I must confess that the Milford Sound day tour program is highly recommended to tourists so if you are in Queenstown, do consider signing up !
