Golden Triangle, Thailand (Jan 2015)

Golden Triangle is a small village of Chiang Saen opposite of Laos, Thailand & Myanmar, well known for the growing of opium. Many tourists flocked to see this mysterious place during the day.

This was the most interesting part of the Chiang Rai tour package. As I did not join the Mekong river boat trip (requires 2 hrs), I was able to explore the surrounding places which are within walking distances from the piers. I took pictures of the Golden Triangle gate sign, the Big Buddha statute, the Mekong river boat crossings and the sceneries on both side of the river fronts.

Those who opted for the boat trip, unfortunately were not given time to visit the Big Buddha statute and the nearby places ! After the Golden Triangle visit, we were taken to a buffet lunch in Mae Sai . After the lunch, we visited the Yao hill tribe & Mae Sai Burmese border.
