My dream of visiting Hainan province has been fulfilled in this trip. So with this accomplishment, the only province in China I have yet to visit is Tibet. I hope my dream of visiting Tibet could be realized soon ! China currently has 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions (Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Xinjiang & Xizang), 4 municipal cities (Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai & Tianjin) & 2 special administrative regions (Hong Kong & Macau).

From Guangzhou to Sanya, I took a sleeper bus (Y$320) and for the return trip, I took an overnight train (Y$142 hard seat) from Haikou to Guangzhou. So be prepared for a tedious journey but well worth the efforts !

After seeing the beautiful Sanya beaches, I felt like I had been to "Tianya Haijio" meaning the end of the sky & ocean !

" Hainanese from Hainan islands migrated to Malaya during the 19th century; smallest ethnic Chinese group (ranked No 6); early arrivals worked as cooks, coffee shop operators, food catering & fisheries; famous Tang dynasty poet, Su Dong Po; Hairui, the well respected Chinese official in Ming dynasty - a man of highest integrity & honesty in office, the popular Hainanese bread & pork chop, Wen Chang chicken rice; Sanya beach, China's Hawaii; Sanya at the end of the sky & ocean ...."

Hainan has produced many wise men in the past

In closing , our early ancestors who chose to migrate overseas in the early 1900's had indeed gone through a great deal of hardship in life - meagre pay, laborious work, harsh weather & living environment, just to eke out a living ! We owed our ancestors a debt of gratitude for what they had done in their quest for a better life ! May their souls rest in peace ! May peace prevails in this earth !

The seas & the Chinese - they are intertwined ! In every "tianya haijio" there are Chinese. For the early overseas Chinese immigrants, many had become the new citizens of the world !

Yeah ! Yeah ! Yeah ! What a productive trip for me & my buddy ! This is a trip to China about mind your mother tongue's language & dialects, mind your Chinese history & mind your ancestor's origin !

" Life is too short for a long story. The story is not over as long as you are still alive. Every story has an end, but in life every end is a new beginning ! "
