" My Staycation No 13 & 14 (Transition to Endemic Phase) free & easy visit together with my brother's Hong family (Jennifer, Wendy & Bryan) & my wife to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island), Port Klang & Klang Bak Kut Teh, Selangor on Wednesday June 22 (07.45>14.30) & Thursday June 23 2022 (07.45>11.30), travelling by KTM train from Subang Jaya, my 46th & 47th outdoor trips after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 6 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases; a National Vaccination campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (Phase 1 started in Feb 2021), as at Feb 5 2022, a total of 22.9 million individuals or 97.9% of the adult population in Malaysia have completed their Covid-19 vaccinations; Malaysia is now under the Transition to Endemic Phase starting from April 1 2022, an exit strategy that could allow Malaysians to return to near-normal life after nearly over 2 years of battling the pandemic "

Travel itinerary: Kuala Lumpur KTM KL Sentral station > Port Klang (approx 52 km); Subang Jaya KTM station > Port Klang (approx 31km).

Wednesday June 22 2022 - accompanying my brother Hong's family together with my wife for a ferry ride from Port Klang to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island), my brother Hong's family from Singapore is currently on a week's holiday in Kuala Lumpur, so far I had the pleasure of acting as a "tour guide" to Hong's family & over the last few days, our group had visited Royal Selangor Pewter Factory & Visitor Centre, Lalaport Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), Kajang Stadium Satay & Pulau Ketam !  

1) KTM train ride from Subang Jaya > Port Klang, Selangor (08.35 >09.30) - meet up with brother Hong's family who boarded the KTM train (departing 08.00) using a Tourist KTM card (Rm8 per pax) from KL Sentral station, free train rides in Klang Valley for all travelling in Klang Valley on MRT, LRT, BRT, Monorail, Rapid KL buses & KTM trains for a month from June 17 > July 17 2022, so for the past few days, it was free train rides for our group using the public transport in Klang Valley !  


2) South Port Passenger Terminal, Port Klang, Selangor - opposite the Port Klang KTM Terminal, so only a short walk ! 


3) Alibaba fast ferry ride (Rm20 = US$4.40 return trip) from South Port Passenger Terminal > Pulau Ketam via Sungei Lima (10.30 > 11.30), air-cond cabin, open air sightseeing deck, 45 minutes > 1 hr ferry ride one way, almost full for the 10.30 ferry ride, unlike the pre-Covid days, the ferry services in South Port has yet to return to normal, so plan your day trip well (pay attention to the Temporary Ferry Timetable Notices) to avoid long waiting time at the jetties in boarding the ferry & also your return journey by the slow KTM trains (takes 1.5hr from  KL Sentral > Port Klang & vice versa)

5) Pulau Ketam Jetty, off Port Klang, Selangor - arriving after almost an hour of ferry ride departing 10.30 from South Port Ferry Terminal via Sungei Lima to Pualu Ketam. 


6) Greeting from Pulau Ketam, off Port Klang Selangor as soon as our group arrived at the Pulau Ketam (Crab Island) jetty ! A better looking Pulau Ketam awaiting visitors, clean & neat, most houses & shops have a new coat of paint, no more thrash & rubbish floating on the waterfront, a brand new Crab Island in the making ! 


7) Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in Pulau Ketam (Crab Island), Port Klang, Selangor - a quaint little fishing village, stray walking, walking like a mud crab, wear a hat or carry a small umbrella to avoid a scorching sun, savour the prawn crackers, oyster omelette, lala mihoon soup or overnight homestay .... our group spent an hour roaming this Crab Island, all were first timers except me ! This was my 3rd visit, my last two visits to Pulau Ketam (including Sungei Lima) were in May 2018 with my two travel buddies (Lam & KC) & Nov 2017 (solo) ! 


8)  Houses built on stilts in Pulau Ketam, off Port Klang, Selangor - scenic view ! 


9) Street art, Pulau Ketam, off Port Klang, Selangor - very pleasing to look at !

10) After the Pulau Ketam visit, our group took a KTM train from Port Klang KTM station (13.30) to Klang for a Bak Kut Teh lunch but decided to change our mind as the stall might close by then (found out later that the stall closes at 13.00) so we continued the train journey & my brother Hong family headed to Mid-Valley Shopping Mall & as for me and my wife, both of us dropped off at Subang Jaya - Home Sweet Home at last after an enjoyable visit to Pulau Ketam on this sunny Tuesday - no revenge travel for me now that I had visited Pulau Ketam 3 times over the last 5 years ! 


Thursday June 23 2022 - accompanying my brother's Hong family & my wife for a visit to Old Klang Town to savour a Bak Kut Teh breakfast dish (09.15 >10.00) by KTM train from KL Sentral (08.00>09.10) & Subang Jaya (08.35>09.10).

1) Klang Railway station (1890), Klang, Selangor - located approx 38km from Kuala Lumpur, one of the first railway lines in the country, opened in 1886.

Restoran Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh, Klang, Selangor - bak kut teh (a pork rib dish cooked in a broth of herbs & spices) breakfast with my brother Hong's family & my wife (Rm100 = US$22.50 for 6 people, a treat from my brother Hong) in an old established Restoran Seng Huat (Under the Bridge), Jalan Besar, Kawasan 1, Klang, Selangor.

Friday June 24 2022 - picked up brother Hong's family from SS15 LRT station to First Coach Terminal, Digital One Mall, Subang Parade, coach departing 11.45 from Subang Jaya via North South Highway & Malaysia / Singapore 2nd Causeway Link to Singapore (after a one week holiday in Kuala Lumpur).
