Thailand (Sukhothai) Jan 2019 - Part 1


Day 4 & 5  - Sukhothai, Thailand 

After our 2 nights stay in Bangkok, our group (5 people) took a hired taxi (500Bht) from Hua Lamphong Bus Station to Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) to board a long distance bus (310Bht) for our next destination ie Sukhothai (427km). The bus departed Mochit at 08.35 and arrived in Sukhothai Bus Terminal at 15.30 (approx. 7hrs).

Arrival at the Sukhothai Bus Terminal and stayed for 2 nights at the Sila Resort Hotel


Sila Resort, Sukhothai (2-3km from Bus Terminal) - 412 Bht (Rm53 or US$13) for a twin bed room, shared bathroom, free use of bicycles, free tuk tuk pick up from bus terminal


After a good night sleep, our group cycled from Sila Resort to Sukhothai Bus Terminal (2-3km) and parked our bicycles at the terminal. From the bus terminal, there is a regular songthaew (local taxi-tucks) shuttle service to Sukhothai Historical Park (30Bht per pax one way). 


Arrival at the Sukhothai Historical Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) - the park was opened to the public today ie Saturday 11/1/2019 (free admission) to celebrate the National Children's Day ! A small saving for our entrance fee (40Bht) ! 


Immediately after our arrival at the Sukhothai Historical Park, each of our members rented a bicycle (30Bht) from a nearby bicycle rental shop and began our visit to the various ancient wats inside the Historical Park - you probably need to spend 2-3 hours to visit the major sites !
