Note: This Day 5 travel program was moved forward to Day 3 (Oct 28 2023) as our China tour leader advised that by Day 5, all the paddy in Longji Terraced Field would have fully ripen & harvested & the landscape thereafter no longer retained her golden charm & that scenic ! 

Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Rice Terraces, Longsheng, Guangxi - located 100km from Guilin, the terraced fields are built along a slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top approx 800m above sea level, the terraced fields were built 650 years ago ! Longji (Dragon's Backbone) terraced rice fields received their names because the rice terraces resemble a dragon's scales, while the summit of the mountain range looks like the backbone of the dragon, the rice fields are cultivated by the Zhuang & Yao people; in late Sept to Oct, the paddy in the terraces is ripen, visitors can appreciate a sea of golden of paddy fluttering & dancing in the wind with distinctive layers ! 

Day 3 (Oct 28 2023) Travel itinerary: Guilin > Longsheng (approx 107km) to view the Longji golden paddy rice terraced fields before the end of the harvesting season in end Oct. 

1) The start of our bus journey from our hotel in Guilin > Longji Rice Terraced Fields, Longsheng (approx 100km) 

2) Arriving in Longji Rice Terraced Fields Tourist Centre - front entrance, parking, ticketing counters, souvenir shops, washrooms etc; entrance fee CNY80 (Rm53), Seniors above 60+ (50% discount), buggy round trip CNY50 (Rm33)

3) Colorful pictures of Longji Rice Terraced Fields mounted on exhibits in the Tourist Centre, these beautiful pictures were probably taken during the different phases of the paddy harvesting season or different time of the year !

4) Special tour bus ride from Tourist Centre to Ping An Terrace Car Park, Longji passing the Dazhai Village. 

5) Arriving at the Ping An Terrace Car Park for a buggy car ride to Nine Dragons Five Tigers  Rice Terraced Sightseeing Area, Longji.

My dream of seeing Longsheng Rice Terraced Fields has been realised at this very moment resting my feet here after almost over an hour of walking & admiring this "fairly land" in Guangxi ! 

12) Exiting the Nine Dragons Five Tigers Rice Terraced Fields / Sightseeing Area by a buggy to Ping An Terrace Car Park for a transit bus ride to the Tourist Centre ! 

A friendship corridor / wooden bridge built by Chinese Government for the Yao Ethnic Minority - a 1934 story of red army passing Longsheng during the Long March promising to protect the Yao ethnic community ..... 

Evening walk (DIY) to a Gourmet & Cultural Street & MIXC Shopping Mall, Guilin, Guangxi, China - within walking distance from our hotel. 

Day 3 hotel buffet breakfast, Guilin, Guangxi - early bird catches the worms ! The breakfast place has limited tables & seats so you may have to wait patiently for a vacant seat during the peak morning breakfast hour ! 

Our tour group's lunch in Fu Man Lou Restaurant, Longsheng, Guangxi - loved eating the steamed bamboo chicken & deep fried anchovies, a local delicacy !
