Thailand (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 2 - My 13 days in Hatyai, Songkhla, Hua Hin & Bangkok, Thailand) Nov 20 > Dec 2 2022 (Day 6 Friday)

Day 6 Friday Nov 25 2022 - after our group's two night-stay in Hua Hin, our next destination is Bangkok. Our group took a morning train from Hua Hin train station & arrived in Bang Sue train station at around 12.30. From Bang Sue, we used MRT & BTS skytrain & checked into our hotel at around 14.30. After a short rest (1.5hr), as for this afternoon, our group aimed at making 4 visits in Bangkok ie 4 Faced Buddha, Central World Plaza, Siam Paragon Mall & Siam Center, all are within walking distance from one another! MRT & BTS train tickets totalled 92bht (Rm12). A good start for our first day in Bangkok - I love visiting Bangkok (both for food & sightseeing) & to date I have made 9-10 visits to this vibrant city in this Land of Smiles during the last 2 - 3 decades!  

Travel itinerary: Hua Hin > Bangkok (Bang Sue) = approx 221km

1) Waiting for our train ride from Hua Hin Train Station > Bang Sue Station, Bangkok (Train No 38 ETD07.30 > ETA12.20), non-aircon seat 290bht (Rm38 = US$5.70), most aircond seats tickets were sold out so three of us opted to buy the non-aircond seats for this short trip to Bangkok.

5) Bangkok City Hotel, Petchathewi - a 400m walk from Petchathewi BTS station & hotel check-in (14.30) - my 1st impression on this 3-star hotel (944bht = Rm123 per night, queen bed twin sharing) - a triple A rating, fully satisfied for my 5-night stay in Bangkok with free daily breakfast, great panoramic view of Bangkok city from our hotel room at 20th floor! 


6) BTS train ride from Petchatewi station > Siam Sation

7) Erawan Shrine (4 Face Buddha), Rachadamri Road, Lumpini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok - formally the Thao Maha Phrom Shrine in Bangkok, Thailand; houses a statute of Phra Phrom, the Thai representation of Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, the name might also refer to Mahabrahma, the ruler of the Brahma realm in Asian mythology. 

Our group's 1st visit in Bangkok - offering our blessings to this renowned Four-Faced Buddha, a celebrated Thai God who oversees fortunes & blessings in various aspects of life. My last visit to this shrine was in Aug 2018!  


8) Central World MallRachadamri Rd, Pathum Wan, Bangkok; a shopping plaza & complex, the 9th largest shopping complex in the world, has a hotel & office tower & is owned by Central Pattana - indeed there was happiness in me as I was able to set foot again on this popular shopping mall in Bangkok together with my wife & my 2 new travel buddies, my last visit to this mall was in Aug 2018 together with my Klang & Singapore group of travel buddies! How time has flown!



9) Siam Paragon, Patum Wan, Bangkok - upscale shopping mall in central Bangkok, one of the largest malls in Thailand along with Icon Siam, Central World & Central Plaza West Gate, I enjoy eating my lunch or dinner in the Food Court & also watching shopping crowd & visitors passing by ..... 


10) Dinner with my wife in Siam Paragon's Food Court, just buy a Gourmet Eats card from the Cash Counter & start your treasure food hunt ...

11) Siam Center, Rama 1 Road, Pathum Wan, Bangkok - one of the city's friendliest fashion malls, with dozens of boutiques by up-and-coming & renowned Thai designers.
