Thailand (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 2 - My 13 days in Hatyai, Songkhla, Hua Hin & Bangkok, Thailand) Nov 20 > Dec 2 2022 (Day 10 &11 Tuesday & Wednesday)

Day 10 - Tuesday Nov 29 2022 - my 5th day in Bangkok focusing our group's visit to Terminal 21 Rama 111 Mall (spent a total of 4 hours including a lunch in this new & modern stylish mall) & also an evening visit to Chinatown with my wife & my travel buddy, Thompson Tham - seeing Chinatown by Night one more time! MRT & BTS train tickets totalled 141bht (Rm18.30)

1) Good morning, Bangkok - a panoramic view of Bangkok city as viewed from hotel's 16th floor, another exciting free & easy day awaiting us !

The Riverside Terminal 21 Rama 111 is the 4th shopping mall under the Terminal 21 Series, was officially opened in Oct 2022. Comprised of 7 storey neo-classic style buildings, each floor has different international theme, starting with Caribbean Village theme on lower ground floor, England Village on ground floor, Italy Village on 1st floor, France Village on 2nd floor, Japan Village on 3rd floor, San Francisco Village on 4th & 5th. 

The mall can be reached by a variety of public tramsport ie bus No 22, 35, 59 & 205, Orange Line speed boat (Wat Rajsingkorn pier), BRT bus (Charown Rat Station & BTS Skytrain (Surasak station), where free bus services is proivided. 

1) BTS train ride from Ratchathewi BTS station (nearest to my hotel) to Surasak station to visit the newly opened Terminal 21 Rama 111 Mall. 


2) Free shuttle bus ride from a bus stop near Surasak BTS station to Terminal 22 Rama 3 Mall, free bus services every 30 minutes, 1st bus departing from Surasak BTS station is 10.15; last bus from Terminal 21 Rama 3 Mall Gate 4 is 21.30, bus departing every 1 hour.

6) Lunch in Pier 21 Food Court Level 5, Terminal 21 of Rama 111, Bangkok, Thailand - bought a food card with a stored value of 200bht (Rm26) & ordered 3 bowls of beef noodle . meat ball soup + 3 bowls of tong sui dessert totalled 190bht. Food sold in the Food Court was dirt cheap so bring an empty "stomach" when visiting this mega mall & treat yourself with a variety of Thai food as much as you can !

7) Bus ride (20bht) from a bus stop near our hotel in  Ratchathewi to Yaowarat Road (Chinatown), Bangkok; for my return trip, our group took a MRT from Wat Mangkok & a BTS train to Ratchthewi.

Day 11 - Wednesday Nov 30 2022 - my last day in Bangkok, no major visit as our sleeper train from Bangkok departing at 14.30 to Hat Yai, after a lunch at a restaurant near our hotel, both myself & my wife took a BTS skytrain from Petchathewi & then a transit by MRT to Hua Lamphong Railway station. MRT & BTS train tickets totalled 42bht (Rm5.50)

Travel itinerary: Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) > Hat Yai (approx 946km) by sleeper train.

2) My morning buffet breakfast (free) in Bangkok City Hotel

3) Morning walk (10.00 > 10.30) near Bangkok City Hotel,  Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand prior to my BTS & MRT train rides to Hua Lamphong train station for our return visit to Hat Yai !  

2) Lunch (12.00) in Ole restaurant near the Asia Hotel in Petchathewi, ordered a plate of Thai fried rice with shrimp & fried rice noodle with water mimosa - yummy yummy taste !

3) Overnight train ride from Hua Lamphong Railway Station > Hat Yai Junction, train number 32, ETD 14.30 > ETA 07.25, upper bed 1005bht (Rm131=US$30.40), lower bed 1105bht (Rm144=US$33.40), air-conditioned, cosy & comfortable; as soon as the seats were converted into a bed, I was in deep slumber from 19.30 onwards till the wee hours ... so sleep well when you are travelling in this China made sleeper train in Thailand !
