Day 7 Thursday Sept 29 2022 - after a 3 days 2 nights round the Langkawi island visit, our group's next visit (final) is Taiping for an overnight stay (Kuala Perlis > Taiping is approx 240km) in this historic city in Perak ! My 3rd visit since Sept 2020 !
1) Our group's breakfast in Kedai Kopi Satu Dua Tiga (123), Kuah Town, Pulau Langkawi (after hotel check-out at 08.30), savoured a bowl of hand-made pumpkin noodle soup with shredded pork & green vegetable Rm8.50 (US$1.80).
2) Arriving in Jetty Point & Duty Free shops, Kuah & returning our rental car & collecting our car deposit of Rm100 from the car rental company in Jetty Point.
3) Waiting lounge, Kuah Jetty, Pulau Langkawi
4) Boarding & ferry crossing from Kuah Jetty > Kuala Perlis (11.00 > 12.15) & continued our group's visit to next destination ie an overnight stay in Taiping & saying bye bye to Langkawi - to me it was a great visit after a lapse of over 20 years !
5) Our group's lunch in Kedai Makanan Thai Ong, Air Hitam, Kedah, KM's delight ie rice with green vegetables + 2 fried eggs Rm7 (US$1.45), my buddies delight ie rice + green vegetables & fried fish & prawn batter fry etc
Taiping, Perak - arriving in Taiping Town at around 17.00 for our hotel check-in
1) Hotel Accommodation - our group's final night stay in Kimal Hotel, off Jalan Tupai, Taiping, Perak; Rm92 (US$19.40, twin sharing), 10 minutes walk to Taiping Lake Gardens & Taiping Mall & Plaza Perbandaran Taiping (Wet Market).
2) Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) - evening stroll (18.15 > 19.30) in Taiping Lake Gardens, gloomy weather, leisure walking around the lake, raintree walk & Taiping Zoo ! Sunrise or sunset, this garden always look scenic ! My 3rd visit since Sept 2020 !

3) Makan Makan (Eating) - after the evening walk in Taiping Lake Gardens, our group had a dinner in Pusat Makanan Taman Tasik, each of us ordered our food of choice & KM's delight was a plate of salted fish steamed pork rice (Rm8 = US$1.70), a very filling & satisfying meal of the day !

Day 8 (Final) Friday Sept 30 2022 -
1) My Jalan Jalan (Walkabout 07.00 > 07.45) in Taiping Town Centre, whereas two of my travel buddies chose to do an hour of morning walk in Taiping Lake Gardens !
2) My light breakfast (08.45 > 09.30) - savoured a bowl of curry Laksa (Rm4.50) in M & M Kopitiam, Taiping & also bought home some char siew pau (Rm1.90), red bean & lotus seed buns.

3) Antong Coffee Mill & Showroom, Jalan Assam Kumbang, Taiping, Perak - established 1933, most historical coffee mill in Malaysia, my travel buddies bought home a few packets of Antong cafe coffee .... an interesting & educational visit !
4) Kilang Kachang Mee Hiong Yuen, 52, Jalan Besar, Sungei Siput - a brief stopover to buy groundnuts, sai kei ma (a sweet Chinese pastry made up of flour batter, egg tossed & deep fried coated in syrup, my favourite) & savoury snacks etc
5) Kopitiam Sembilan Tiga Dua, Chemor, Perak - a brief stopover (2nd visit) for a traditional Hakka Lui Cha (Rm5.80 per bowl + rice) which contains rice & is chock full of fresh vegetables, tofu & nuts plus a bowl of flavourful green soup as a side dish - a yummy lunch before heading home !
6) Sungei Siput New Village - a brief stopover to buy some Hakka kuehs (Rm1.20 per piece) in savoury or salty vegetable fillings wrapped in thin skins made of flour.
Time to go home after a 8 days Cuti Cuti (Vacation) Malaysia free & easy visit to North West coast of Peninsula Malaysia ie Ipoh, Chemor, Taiping, Bukit Mertajam, Sungei Patani, Alor Setar, Kangar, Kuala Perlis & Pulau Langkawi ! I missed my wan tan noodle & roasted pork rice very much so on the following morning, I "tao bao" both these food as my breakfast & lunch for my family as well ! From this week onwards, I will be back to my routine retirement life again & looking forward for another outing in a not too distant future ! Happy travelling, KM !
