Day 6 Chinese New Year (Sunday Feb 6 2022) -  Travel Highlights:

1) Central Market, Jalan Hang Kasturi, City Center Kuala Lumpur - established in 1888, Central Market is also known as Pasar Seni is Kuala Lumpur's oldest surviving market place, landmark & historic place, I really enjoyed my Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in this "once upon a time" the KL Wholesale Market (fish, fruit & vegetables) which was an extremely busy place in the 1970s & early 80s (the KL Wholesale Market was moved to Selayang in mid 1980s), a hive of activities (opening of eatery stalls, bazar market, art galleries & a street band performing) on this Sunday weekend which coincided with the CNY festive season, roaming the entire complex at my own leisure & pace, this was a worthy visit in comparison with my numerous visits to this place during the last few years ! This Central Market visit also reminisced my Good Old Days when I made my first visit to Convent Garden Market in London (United Kingdom) during my backpacking years of 2009 & 2010 !

My Good Old Days enjoying my visit to Convent Garden Market, London, United Kingdom - both the Convent Garden Market, London & Central Market, Kuala Lumpur had a varied past, historic & cultural !

Central Market Food Court, 1st Floor

2) Central Market Annexe, Jalan Hang Kasturi, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - a centre for contemporary art.

3) Museum of Ethnic Arts, 2nd Floor, Central Market Annexe, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur - an impressive display of ethnic or tribal artifacts / objects of historical & cultural interest collected by the owner & founder (passion fuels energy !) over the last 2 decades, the exhibit tribal items (I believe every piece has a folk story behind !) were mainly sourced from the deep interiors in the rainforest Borneo states of Sabah & Sarawak, Kalimantan & culturally rich Asian countries which are now proudly on display in his private owned Art House Gallery & Museum of Ethnic Arts, some objects are up for sale, visitor pays Rm5 (US$1.20) as a donation to upkeep the maintenance of this mini Museum !  A big thank you to John (a staff member on duty) who gave me an interesting introduction of this Gallery / Museum & the founder's passion in collecting tribal objects ..... what a productive visit for me as this Gallery was in my bucket list of visit for awhile, to-date I had visited over 190 of touristy sites, be it historical, cultural, nature, architectural, iconic, colonial in character etc in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur ! Art House Gallery Museum of Ethnic Arts is the No 195 of the tourist sites in Kuala Lumpur I visited thus far, posted under Malaysia (Cuti Cuti / Vacation in various states of Malaysia - Federal Territory 2015 - 2022) in my travel blog dated Nov 2019 !

Again this mini Museum visit on Rainforest Borneo Ethnics Arts reminisced my Good Old days ie backpacking years of 2006 > 2019, I was fortunate in that I had the opportunities to visit a number of world class state-owned museums ie British Museum (London), Heritage Museum (St Petersburg, Russia), The Egyptian Museum (Cairo), The National Museum of Iran (Teheran), Archaeological Museum Sanchi (Bhopal, India), Himalayan Tibetan Museum ( Darjeeling, West Bengal, India); these museums impressed me a lot after viewing the various exhibits of ancient, tribal & ethnic artifacts / objects put on display !

The Egyptian Museum, Cairo (2007)

British Museum, London, UK (2009)

Heritage Museum, Winter Palace, St Petersburg, Russia (2009)

The National Museum of Iran, Teheran, Iran (2018)

Archaeological Museum, Sanchi, Bhopal, India (2019)

Himalayan Tibetan Museum, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India (2019)

4) Art House Gallery, 2nd Floor, Central Market Annexe, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur - a commercial art gallery, also the owner of the Museum of Ethnic Art, on sale in the gallery are oil paintings, watercolour, sculptures & collectables from Malaysia & Asian countries, an ideal place to shop for art pieces & collectibles  !

5) Hang Kasturi Walk, next to Central Market, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - just walk & walk & lend your ears listening to some of the favourite oldie songs (sung by The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Engelbart Humperdinck) performed by a street band singer stationed near the Central Market on this sunny Sunday !

7) Kwai Chai Hong (Ghost Lane), Lorong Panggung, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - Chinese New Year decor, rows of hanging colorful & red lanterns, attractive murals reminiscence of the 60s, bigger crowd turnout during the CNY festive period, SOP compliance, queuing for 5 to 10 minutes before entry !

9) Chinatown, Petaling Street, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - local press media reported that Chinatown & nearby touristy places, ie Kwai Chai Hong (Ghost Lane), popular eatery stalls & kopitiam operating in Jalan Sultan, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur were packed with people during the Chinese New Year festive period (despite rising Covid-19 & Omicron cases) ! A sign of returning to normalcy soon ! But for this Sunday visit in Chinatown (11.00), I observed the visitor turnout was much less, maybe the younger people has yet to show up as some of them were still in deep slumber !

10) Rex KL Culture Centre, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - an old cinema / theatre converted into a community-based cultural creative hub in downtown Kuala Lumpur ! Eatery stalls had fewer customers (11.30) hopefully more people would show up to have their lunch from mid-day onwards ....

11) Home Sweet Home ! My simple home cooked yong tau fu / mi hoon soup lunch eaten at home after 4-5 hours of roaming the City Centre of Kuala Lumpur on the Day 6 of the Chinese New Year ! Never mind I had acquired a suntan walking around the City Centre but it was a healthy & productive Sunday weekend for me - a little life pleasure & at the same time striving to keep a healthy mindset amidst the Covid-19 & Omicron pandemic !
