Malaysia (Covid-19 National Recovery Phase 4 - My Staycation No 12 to Putrajaya City, Federal Territory) Nov 4 2021

" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) free & easy visit to Putrajaya City, Federal Territory on Thursday Nov 4 2021 (Deepavali Public Holiday), travelling by self drive car from SS17, Subang Jaya > Taman Equine (pick up sisters Peng & Mei) > Putrajaya; my 12th outdoor trip after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 6 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, a National Vaccination campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (Phase 1 started in Feb 2021, as at Nov 1 2021, more than 22.3 million Malaysian adults had been fully vaccinated representing 95.5% of the adult population in the country); Selangor (my home state) is now under the National Recovery Phase 4 (NRP4) starting from Monday Oct 11 2021 hence the Malaysian Government has eased restrictions allowing individuals with vaccination certificate or card for inter state travel, dine-in restaurants, hotel accommodation & homestay, outdoor sport & activities etc"

Travel itinerary (by self drive car using GPS & return, 07.00 > 13.30): Subang Jaya > Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan, (pick up sisters Mei & Peng) > Putrajaya City, Federal Territory, the distance from Subang Jaya (my home place) > Putrajaya City is approx 30km (one way), my last solo visit to Putrajaya City was in Sept 2018 ! What a beautiful day for our outing on this Deepavali Holiday  ! 


Putrajaya City - established in 1995 is the federal administrative capital of Malaysia, located 23km south of Kuala Lumpur, this "Garden City", Intelligent City" was built to showcase sophisticated government buildings, office towers, commercial commercial complexes & modern homes nestled amidst beautiful gardens, parks & lakes, the design of these buildings are known for its late 20th century architecture including the Putra Mosque, made from rose-colored granite with a pink dome, nearby is the immense, green-domed Perdana Putra, which contains the Prime Minister's office complex, the 3 tiered Putra Bridge is inspired by Iranian architecture, with 4 minaret type piers overlooking the man-made Putrajaya Lake.

1) Perdana Putra (The Prime Minister's Office), Putrajaya City - houses the office complex of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, located on the main hill in Putrajaya, it has become synonymous with the executive branch of the Malaysian federal government. 


2) Masjid Putra (Putra Mosque), Putrajaya City - the principal mosque of Putrajaya, completed in 1999, located next to Perdana Putra which houses the Malaysian Prime Minister's office & man-made Putrajaya Lake. 


3) Putra Square, Putrajaya City - a city square in Precinct 1, the square has been used for festivals eg Malaysian Independence Day parade, the 300m square is bounded by Perdana Putra, Putra Mosque, Putra Bridge & the Promenade Shopping Mall. 


4) Souq Shoppe, Putrajaya City - houses the largest chocolate store in Klang Valley ! 


5) Qatar sponsored anti-corruption steel Monument, Putrajaya City - a 12 meter statute in the shape of a lifted hand !

7) Taman Wawasan, Putrajaya City - a beautiful landscaped park next to the lake in the heart of Putrajaya City. 


8) Selera Laman Perdana, Putrajaya City - close to Perdana Putra, a good glimpse of Putra Square, Putra Mosque & Seri Wawasan Bridge from the garden,  food stalls offering local dishes, curbside pick up etc  



9) Taman Botani, Putrajaya City - large lakeside public garden with 700 species of plants, flowers plus trails & bicycle rentals, entrance fee Rm10 (US$2.40) 


10) Moroccan Pavilion & The Lakeside, Putrajaya City - a Moorish style building in a botanical garden, with ornate carvings, colorful tiles & fountains, closed at the time of our visit due to renovation works in progress ! 


11) Millennium Monument & The Lakeside, Putrajaya City - a national monument in Putrajaya which is analogous to the Washington Monument in Washington DC, USA, the 2nd national monument to be built in Putrajaya after Putrajaya Landmark. 


My Good Old Days - Reminiscing my free & easy visit with 2 of my travel buddies to Washington DC, USA / Canada in mid-May to mid-June 2019 ! In this visit, our group had the opportunity to pay a visit to the Washington Monument, an obelisk within the National Mall in Washington DC, built to commemorate George Washington, once commander-in-chief of the Continent Army in the American War & the 1st President of the United States

12) Skyrides Festival Park, Putrajaya City - near Millennium Monument, this theme park offering rides in a tethered hot air balloon & an obstacle course over the water. 


13) Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque (Iron Mosque) - the 2nd principal mosque in Putrajaya after Putra Mosque, located in Precinct 3, opposite the Palace of Justice & next is the Islamic Complex Putrajaya, a religious authority headquarter. 


14) Putrajaya Steps, Putrajaya City - a new tourist attraction ! 


15) DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside, Putrajaya City - located in Marina Putrajaya


16) Marina Putrajaya, Putrajaya City - lakeside sports complex with a swimming pool, gym & exercise studio, plus a cafe & karaoke room 


17) International Convention Center, Putrajaya City Center - opened in 2003, the main convention center is located on the top of Taman Puncak Selatan in Precinct 5.

23) Government Office Complexes & Commercial Buildings in Putrajaya City - where most of the Government offices are located, I probably need to make another visit & take a slow stroll  along the main road in order to appreciate & admire some of these modern architectural / intelligent buildings !

Sawadikap (Hello), see you soon in the Land of Smiles ! Anxiously looking forward for the Thai / Malaysian governments to announce the re opening of land borders between southern Thailand & northern Malaysia peninsula in coming weeks ! Early January is probably the best time to visit Thailand due to a cooler weather ! My last visit with my Klang buddies to Thailand was in Jan 2019 ! My travel buddies are keen to do an overland train trip from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok & up north .... let's keep our fingers crossed & get ready our travel plan ....
