Malaysia (Covid-19 & Chinese Lunar Niu Year) Friday & Saturday Feb 12 & 13 2021

Cattle in Chinese is pronounced as "Niu"

" You can't change the past. You don't have control over the past. But what you can do is to make the most out of your present "

Chinese "Niu" Year Eve (Thursday Feb 11 2021) - my usual early morning walk (07.00) near my home place in Subang Jaya (about 30 minutes) - Looking forward for a healthy "Niu" Day tomorrow !

Watching my favourite CCTV 4 channel on the live telecast of the Amazing Chinese New Year show in China during the evening prior to the Chinese Niu Year eve dinner

2021 Chinese Lunar "Niu" Year eve dinner with my family members of 5 at home (due to Covid-19 pandemic, MCO 2.0 restricts not more than 15 family members staying within a radius of 10km to attend the reunion dinners at home), simple home cooked delicious meals (the food that binds) prepared by my wife for this ox-spicious reunion dinner ! You could also order takeaway CNY dishes / menus with various delicacies ie yee sang, London duck, poon choy etc from restaurants and enjoy these food in the comfort of your home !

Steamed white kampung chicken
Fried prawns with spring onions

Stir fried broccoli, carrots & button mushrooms

Pork sausages + Chinese nga ku (arrowhead)

Abalone & chicken soup

Dessert - Sliced pineapples

My simple home cooked reunion dinner eaten at home !

After the reunion dinner, I continued my watching of the CCTV 4 live telecast of the Chinese "Niu" Year Spring Festival Gala show in China, this 3 hours live show ended mid-night leading to the ushering of the Lunar Niu Year of the Ox ! The countdown to the lunar Niu Year is about to begin - the moment when the clock strikes a second after 12 mid-night,  Mr Ox-san has this Golden Ox wish to convey to wanderlust - wishing all the travellers in 2021 a year with new hopes & new opportunities & happy travelling but stay healthy & safe ! Loud bursts of fire crackers sound could be heard not far from my neighbourhood, signalling the arrival of a Chinese Lunar "Niu" Year - the year of the Ox !

Chinese Lunar "Niu" Year Feb 12 & 13 2021 marks the beginning of the Year of the Metal Ox with earth element which represents stability & nourishment; according to the Chinese Zodiac or "Xodiac", 2021 is an "Ox-spicious" year & also an "Ox-cellent" start ! "Niu" year, new beginnings. Feng shui experts predict brighter prospect ahead ! Let our hope blooms !

2021 is a Year of the Ox. Good Morning Mr Ox-san !

Will Covid-19 continues to turn the world "Oxsy" Turvy in 2021 - when will it ends ?

Starting Wednesday Feb 10, 2021, Malaysian government allowed dine-in in eating stalls & restaurants but limited to 2 per table ! Today is Chinese "Niu" Year eve (Thursday Feb 11 2021). As inter-state & district travel is still banned & a stay home order (within a 10km radius); with all the spare time, maybe you can hone your culinary skill & make some new charcoal fired Ox burgers at home as a side dish for your family members during the forthcoming Chinese "Niu" Year ! Best still, if you can savour a bowl of Oxtail soup in Ship Restaurant, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kula Lumpur instead of eating the traditional Bak Kut Teh (pork rib dish) if you are an urbanite living in the CBD of Kuala Lumpur, walking freely in this touristy place !

Hopefully 2 + 2 per table after the Lunar Chinese New Year !
How about a white pepper charcoal fired Ox burger for this Chinese New Year !

Oxtail soup - My favourite !

Malaysia Ox burgers in a making ?

Wanderlust eagers to "Ox-ing" the world again as soon as international travel restrictions are lifted; after nearly over a year of long confinement at home & in our backyard, you may have to recharge, reset & restart your energy (especially if you are an oldie) - drinking a can of "Red Bull" daily hopefully will help before the start of a journey to any of the country in wild wild west or tora tora east !

A New Normal - backside ache syndrome starting to greet you (too much sitting) !

It's time to Cuti Cuti the World ! Wanderlust can't wait !

Are you ready to travel in 2021 like a charging bull like your good old days !

Will 2021 shines again for the wanderlust - ask the fortune teller !

Be "Ox-some" & put on your "Ox-smetic" during the Chinese Lunar New Year even though you will be doing less visiting due to Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0). Cheer up & Chin Up ! The Good Old Days will be back soon ! You will be flying again !

Mass "Ox-cination" program will be carried up by the Malaysian Government in several phases starting in Feb 26 2021; the vaccines shall be made available free to all Malaysians living in the country including non-citizens. Frontline workers from the healthcare & security sectors will go first followed by senior citizens (hopefully in May 2021) & people with chronic illnesses. The mass vaccination plan would span 18 months; this may result in less cases of hospitalisation hence a lower requirement for ventilators.

My First Day Chinese Lunar "Niu" Year (TGIF Thank God is Friday Feb 12 2021) - despite the travel restriction under the MCO 2.0, I believe this is an "Ox-citing" first day for many celebrating the Chinese "Niu" Year at home with their family members ! Happy "Niu" Year !

Woke up early at 06.00 and after a short rest, I went out for a morning walk with my wife near my neighborhood park area.

My morning breakfast on Day 1 of the Chinese "Niu" Year - barbecued pork & vegetable pau (bun)

Yesterday evening, I missed watching the first hour of the live telecast of the Chinese "Niu" Year Spring Festival Gala show (CCTV 4), so after breakfast, I glued on my sofa & got ready to watch a repeat of this TV show - very entertaining indeed !

My home cooked lunch (fried mi hoon & mixed vegetables or lo han jai)

Day 1 of my CNY visits to my mother & brother in law's houses in USJ, Subang Jaya

Spending the rest of my CNY 1st Day evening watching the repeat of the  CCTV 4 Spring Festival Gala show the 3rd time at the comfort of my home - an "Ox-cellent" show ! "Ox-some"

For the night owls & mid-night cowboys nowhere to go due to the MCO 2.0 travel restrictions, find a few buddies & raise a glass of icy cold XO brandy & shout on top of your voice to your buddies - a Happy Niu Year ! Let's hope that the MCO 2.0 will be unlock soon after the CNY !

Day 2 Chinese Lunar Niu Year (Saturday Feb 13 2021) - No outing today for me & observing the Stay Home SOP. Spent my time mostly watching CCTV 4, CNN, Aljazeera News etc & surfing the internet, YouTube on international world news & travelling tales etc to keep myself occupied ! Enjoying a quiet moment in the comfort of my small cosy home - Home sweet home !

After a morning walk, I had a simple breakfast (egg with bread & yam cakes) + hot coffee on Day 2 of the CNY !

My wife spent most of the CNY Day 2 morning at her mum's house chatting with visiting family members & brought home a pot of curry fish head (my favourite) as lunch & together with a dish of steamed white chicken, my family members had a quiet simple yummy CNY dinner at home !

Not sure everybody will be greeting "Gong Xi Fat Cai" (means wishing you more wealth) this CNY as done in many of the past ! For this Chinese Lunar "Niu" Year,  let us wish each other always in good health  ! Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, it is better to be healthy than having a deep pocket !
