Malaysia (Cave Temples Ipoh, Perak) May 2018

" In LIFE, it's not where you go. It's who you travel with "

" LIFE was meant for good friends and great adventures "

" Enjoy the little things in LIFE for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things "

" My 2 days Cuti Cuti (Vacation), Makan Makan (Eating) & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in Ipoh, Perak - accompanying my Klang travel buddies to Ipoh; taking a KTM ERL train ride from KL Sentral to Ipoh, Perak & using one of my travel buddy's  private vehicle to visit major Buddhist cave temples & recreation parks in Ipoh & Gopeng, Perak from 28-29 May 2018 "

I made 2 visits to Ipoh in May 2018. The first one was in early May focusing my visit (mainly walking tour) following the heritage trail in Old Ipoh Town. For this second visit, our group was able to visit the major cave temples & recreation parks in Ipoh areas & Gua Tempurung  (one of the largest & longest caves in Peninsula Malaysia) near Gopeng, located 24km from the Ipoh city.

Ipoh has some 30 cave temples and the famous ones are Perak Tong (Kuala Kangsar Road), Sam Po Tong, Kek Lok Tong, Nam Thean Tong & Lin Sen Tong (Gopeng Road). As most of these cave temples are located in the outlying area of Ipoh - so it would be easy for you to visit these temples using your own or hired vehicle or bikes !

Due to the time constraints, our group managed to visit 8 cave temples & 2 recreation & leisure parks around Ipoh.

As for Makan Makan (eating), our group enjoyed the local food served in coffee shops & restaurants ie bean sprout chicken rice, kai see hor fun, wanton mee, Ipoh coffee, pork meat ball soup, roasted pork, & chicken feet etc.

If you like to have a short Cuti Cuti (Vacation), why not come to Ipoh, an ex-mining town and now a popular tourist destination - famous for Ipoh cuisine, limestones caves, cave temples & not to forget doing a walking tour to Ipoh Old Town dotted with  British colonial heritage buildings and also enjoying a cup of famous Oldtown White coffee at a local café in the Concubine Lane …..

Total expenses incurred : Rm104 (US$26)
KTM train: Rm17 (senior 60+)
Hostel: Rm30 (dorm)
Food: Rm55
LRT train: Rm2.10 (senior)
Exchange rate: US$1=Rm3.95
