D-25 Wednesday Sept 2 2026 (Yining) - kick start our morning by taking a bus ride from Yining City > Tekes Baqua City & returning to Yining at 16.00. After a short rest in the hotel, we took a DiDi & visited the iconic Ili River Bridge & the Ili River Tourism Resort Area in the evening.
Public Transport: 2 long distance bus rides (CNY35 x 2) + 6 DiDI rides (CNY16 + 15 + 7.50 + 8.11 + 8.03+ 8.96 = CNY64)

1) My morning breakfast (CNY12) in a local restaurant, Renhe Walking Street, Yining, Xinjiang
2) Bus ride (CNY35) from Yining Passenger Transporter Centre > Tekesi Bus Terminal (114km, 2 hours, services every 50 mins)
4) Coutryside scenery as viewed from the moving bus from Yining > Tekes Baqua City.

8) Tekes Baqua City, Xinjiang - a national 4As tourist attraction, currently the only well preserved, fully intact & largest Baqua (8 Trigrams) city in the world, renowned for its Baqua layout, the city features a radial circular design, with 8 main streets radiating from the center & intersecting 4 ring roads embodying the "Baqua" mystery & principles to form 64 hexagrams ! A "baqua" person is often interpreted as a busybody ie a nosy person who constantly meddles in other people's private affairs. As soon as I stepped into the Tai Chi Altar, I acted like a busybody & spent sometime at the cultural exhibition & observation deck trying to gain a better understanding of this Baqua City, built in the good old days (city design concept commenced in 1939) blending traditional Taoist cosmology & Yijing culture with local history !
9) The Tai Chi Altar, Tekes Baqua City, Xinjiang - a 3 storey exhibition building, functions a cultural museum displaying the history, folk customs & natural scenery of the region.

13) Panorama view of Tekes Baqua City from the top floor of the Tai Chia Altar.
14) Observation Deck, The Tachi Altar, Tekes Baqua City - from the top, you can overlook the perfectly symmetrical, street planned Baqua layout of the town; the Tai Chi Altar sits exactly at the center of the city where all 8 main streets radiate outward like a Baqua shape, each of the main streets has a meaningful name.

16) Baqua City Night Market, Tekes Baqua City, Xinjiang - just a brief walk during the early afternoon prior to taking a DiDi to Tekesi Bus Terminal for our return bus trip (CNY35) to Yining City.

18) As we are not staying overnight in Tekes Baqua City, I could have to use my imagination based on the pictures below to figure out what the city looks like when nightfall - a vibrant nightlife & performances awaiting you to appreciate & admire !

21) Ili River Bridge, Yining, Xinjiang - a historic reinforced concrete arch bridge built in 1975 located 5km south of Yining City, an ideal place for evening walk & viewing of sunset over the Ili River Scenic Tourist Area.
22) Yili River Tourism Resort Scenic Area - a beautiful national 4As tourist destination located along the banks of the Ili River in Yining, it features lush wetlands, family parks, & incredible viewing spots where you can watch the sunset over the famous Ili River Bridge.
23) Claypot duck meat & pork rib + rice (CNY48) dinner in a local restaurant, Renhe Walking Street, Yining.
